“Lovely evening out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

We were staying nearby but wanted a nice evening out to compensate for the appalling weather that day. We were made very welcome by Terri + her team + thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was full + the atmosphere was wonderful. We were chatting to the couple next to us which added to our enjoyment, as they were such good fun. However, one incident marred the evening because two young couples at a nearby table ate their meals + then complained. They were asked if everything was o.k. whilst they were eating + said all was fine, but asked for a reduction, because they weren't happy, afterwards. Terri was very accommodating but they were surly + eventually she asked them to leave. She did not charge them but was very upset about it all. They clearly wanted a free meal. The restaurant, staff + food were all excellent+ we all supported Terri. It just made us sad to be British! This is a restaurant that has helped to put the GREAT IN Great Britain. Keep up the good work. We will be back!

Room Tip: Only went to the restaurant

After booking into Whitesands for three nights, we found ourselves only leaving 6 days later!!! We have never felt so comfortable and relaxed staying away from home. The host, Teri was absolutely lovely and made us feel more than welcome. Her friendliness goes without saying as well as her ability in running such a great establishment. We stayed in the Washington Suite, then because we decided to stay longer, Teri could only help us out with a self catering lodge for a night, then we were transferred to the Rome Suite. The rooms on every level were clean, comfortable, very tasteful and very affordable. I have been fortunate enough to travel to a lot of places worldwide, but can honestly say that Whitesands was one of the nicest places I have stayed and the beauty that surrounded it was breathtaking. Teri's local knowledge of the area helped us have a very interesting and memorable holiday. Thank you Teri and we will see you soon :0

Room Tip: In my opinion any of the rooms are great.

We really enjoyed our time at Whitesands. Teri was lovely from the first moment I spoke to her on the telephone and took our booking. We stayed in the Paris room which had a lovely ensuite with a fantastic shower. It would have been nice if there was a television in the room but we didn't really miss it in the end. The Paris room has a lot of storage with a big french wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus the 2 bedside tables and an dressing table complete with a treble mirror. We loved the fact that breakfast is 8:30 until...late so we felt no pressure to rush down in the morning in case we missed it. Breakfast is great and they cook what you want, how you like it...and remember it the next day and each day which we really appreciated. We ate in the restaurant several times and found the food to be fantastic, in particular the seafood. We also really enjoyed the Chilean white and red wine and the desserts were lovely. The staff were very attentive and friendly and Teri gave us lots of useful information about places to visit in the vicinity which we investigated and thoroughly enjoyed. We would definitely stay here again, thanks for looking after us so well.

Superb hotel and hospitality. A great first impression of the hotel when you arrive with the external grounds well kept. Upon check in we were greeted as if we were returning guests and made to feel very at home. We were in the Washington room which was spotlessly clean with all the usual amenities and a very comfotable bed.

The information in the room of the local area was very good and the host Terri who was a superb host, told us that the list of places described in the information was in an order so that they can be followed in a car so the following day we visited all the places on the list (apart from st ives as we were saving that for the following day) and it was an incredible day out and would reccommend it, highlights were the Minack ampi theatre, mousehole and st michaels mount.

The tariff is well set for the hotel which includes a great full english breakfast and if you don't fancy that there are many other options on the breakfast menu. Sennen cove is a very short drive or walk away with an amazing beach and we were lucky enough to have some great weather and got to sit outside the beach restaurant for a great meal to watch the sun set. We didn't get chance to eat in thee hotel restauant but the menu looked very good and we heard some very good reports of the food and service from other guests at the hotel.

Our third stay at Whitesands Lodge in a year, and as we expected, yet again our stay was perfect. This is our favourite hotel to stay at, in the whole of the UK. The service was impecible, the rooms immaculate, the views imaginitive, and the food was fabulous. The tariff is better than reasonable. Go and experience it for yourselves, and your expectations will be exceeded, that is a guarentee. We will return for our forth visit in no time at all.

We stopped off for a quick bite but ended up having a long, leisurely feast! The seafood was divine, the champagne superb and the dessert to die for. The host, Terri, and her staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. It may have been more expensive than the fish and chips that were available in Sennen Cove but it was worth every penny. We will definitely be making the 600 mile round trip again just to experience the delights on offer and the wonderful hospitality.

From the outset, my stay at Whitesands was fantastic. Definitely a tough one to beat on so many levels.

First impressions of the hotel were very good. Clearly a lot of love, hard work and attention to detail has gone into the restoration and furnishings. The restuarant / bar area was a light and comfortable environment, with reception room and TV / Wifi spot just down the hall.

I stayed for 4 days with a large group of friends self-catering. The rooms in the hotel were spotlessly cleaned every day. All staff were very friendly, attentive, and helpful with local recommendations for places to visit. We did not want for anything during our stay.

I would highly recommend Whitesands for any occasion or group, especially if you have a good sense of fun. It is without doubt a beautiful place run by truly lovely people. (Terry, I can't thank you enough, we are all still talking about it - See you soon).

Scott
