“What a great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2012 via mobile

Went to the "Red House" restaurant after a brilliant golden circle tour from the Blue House in Reykjavik. I had the Lobster tagliatelle and my girlfriend had the salted cod, both were incredible and the best food that we had in Iceland. If you miss this place than you would of missed out on something very special!

“don't miss this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

we went there with french friends (4 adults 1 child) for a dinner and it was fantastic! - even salad, lamb or fish, dessert: the food was succulent and fresh, well presented. The Rauða Húsið is a cosy place (the prices are not too expensive (for Iceland)), the staff is friendly (also with children)... don't hesitate to make a stop and enjoy it!

“This was such an amazing lunch we stopped back again later in the trip!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011

We found Rauda Husid by accident on our way to Vik (we decided to take some smaller roads and go through some towns we had not yet visited). The lunch was so delicious that on the way back at the end of our trip (the following week) we stopped by for lunch again. I had the seafood salad and my husband tried the catch of the day. The catch of the day actually featured two fish. Both entrees had plenty of fresh ingredients and were beautifully prepared. We each ordered a beer and enjoyed the bread that featured a creamy garlic spread to put on it. The second visit also had a homemade chickpea spread for the bread. The two lunches we had at Rauda Husid really stand out from our 10 days exploring South and East Iceland!

“Little gem in a 19th century fishing village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

Came here for a late lunch after exploring the Ghost Centre in Stokkseyri. Nice atmosphere, with jazz and chillout playing in the background. Food was lovely, followed by a cappuccino. Only downside was that they didn't have any cakes that day. Sat there and read my book quietly for a couple of hours, very relaxing. Village was very pretty as well.
