“A firm favourite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We have visited the Raglan Arms many times and is one of our favourite restaurants....and in Monmouthshire we do have an abundance of excellent restaurants. The Raglan Arms has a cosy and relaxed ambience. We have visited as a couple, with family and with friends and have never been disapointed. Always experienced high standards, excellent and friendly service in this lovely little place in the charming village of Llandenny. A little off the beaten track so to speak but well worth a visit. A varied and interesting menu using fresh local ingredients...highly recommended !

“A real lunchtime treat to end the week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013 via mobile

It is always worth the extra distance to go to the Raglan Arms and last Friday was up to their usual high standards. The guest ale was fruity and delicious, black olive tapenade amuse bouche and homemade bread kept us fully satisfied until the generous belly pork sandwich platter arrived.
Could not have asked for more. Highly recommend a visit.

“Very disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This was our second visit to the Raglan Arms and we were sadly let down. As a party of six, five of us opted for the beefburgers, my daughter (the birthday girl) asked for hers without any salad or dressings, but it still came covered with mayonnaise, hence she only ate part of it after we had scraped it clean. The burgers were good but the blue cheese was hardly visiible (did they run out?) and the salad looked as though it had been thrown on the plate at the last moment (trainees?). The chips were luke warm. As it was a birthday treat we decided to plough on with the meal so we weren't there till midnight. We ordered five desserts, two of which were the white chocolate tirimisu. These were literally long glasses filled with white chocolate and cream. There was no hint of the liquer or coffee and one tiny piece of sponge half way down. They were very sickly and tasteless - a real let down. My other daughter (who never leaves a pudding!) ate half of hers. Unfortunately the birthday girl chose the chocolate brownie - again half eaten (after several of us had tried it). It was so sweet and sickly, she ate one or two mouthfuls before giving up. I tasted it and to me it was quite hard possibly a little stale. My husband had the pear Bakewell tart which at some point in the evening had been introduced to the microwave - it was unacceptable! Who made these puddings? Again I surmise it was chef's night off. This time when the waitress asked us if our meal was alright I explained the situation (and she could clearly see half eaten dishes), and stated how disappointed we were especially with the desserts. She politely apologised but no effort was made by any senior member of staff or the chef to come and talk to us - this would have happened in any restaurant worth its' salt. So come on Raglan Arms pull your socks up - you've gone down hill and this family, for one, won't be spending its' hard earned cash there any more. I'm sorry to say.

“Really Good Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

My father suggested the Raglan Arms on our drive home from Abergavenny. Set a little off the beaten track this is a lovely country pub made over to dining. Sat on the soft sofa's by the log fire on to study the menu with complementary olives and fresh, home made bread. Varied menu which should suit all comers. Decided on Roast beef with all the trimmings. The generous portion of beef was absolutely delicious. Two courses for £18 mean it is not the cheapest Sunday Lunch, but certainly one of the best. Staff pleasant and attentive.

“Evening Dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We have had a few meals at the Raglan Arms, this was on a snowy January night so not many people there. Both Waitresses were friendly and very helpful, we sat down on the leather settee's in front of the loverly log fire, with olives and roasted nuts.
Menu is not overly extensive but something generally to suit all tastes, starters were very good and I had a rib eye steak for main, the steak was good but not excellent, my wife had another starter for her main a vegetarian dish which she said was excellent.
Deserts were a chocolate dish with ice-cream very nice.
Chilean Red wine, very nice but bit pricey for what it was.
It is one of the better restaurants in the area and worth a visit.
