“Beautiful Escaped and Beautiful Experienced!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

We stayed in Hof Gorei with my man for 3 nights there,We choose the room infront of the beach. It was really beautiful although its a long drive of boat when we went there compare to the other beaches which is just close to davao city. But despite of the long sailing it was Beautiful and Perfect for me and for my partner. This place is just lovely with beautiful view in the jacuzzi pool upstairs of their conventional room upstairs when you finally reach of the top you can see the beautiful view there it was overwhelming view. This resort is well managed but the only thing is not so good there is the connection of the wifi. They don't have wifi before I hope they have put now. The beach is clean and their pool is just cute and especially the big one pool. They also have some animals around the beach which is very perfect. Its quiet beautiful in Hof gorei that we experienced the room is just perfect but their bathroom has to be mordenized as we are modern now but it was okey. The most features of this resort is their own butler that will served you anytime and anywhere their butler is nice and polite our butler before was Moman the moreno guy there he is good he can understand well and follows direction. During night you will amazed if you will be having your dinner in your balcony you will be amazed with the lightning bugs who is flying everywhere it seems you are in Palawan perfect and just memorable. We can't forget our wonderful escaped in this resort. Everything is just wonderful the prices of their food is just worth to the taste of the food they served you. I will highly recommend this beautiful resort to those lovers in Paris. It's perfect especially if you know how to appreciate nature beauties. Good luck and happy planning.

Room Tip: Choose a front beach room

Easy to get to but away from everything if you choose. An easy boat ride from Davao City brings you to the docks of the Hof Gori where you are personally greeted by staff or the owner with a complimentary drink.. There are a variety of accommodations-from beachfront to cliff-side.
Bavarian and traditional structures make this place unique and relaxing. Pools, spas with a view, private dining of remarkable cuisine makes the Hof Gori a must see location.

Room Tip: plan on not wanting to leave.

We stayed in hof gorei for 2 days. We were disappointed when we arrived. It was different from the pictures in the internet. The room was not well-ventilated. There was no internet connection, as what they advertised.. The bathroom/cr were downstairs and during our stay, they were never cleaned- the trashcans were very small. Although some of the staff were very nice, but some of them were not helpful. Everything there is overpriced. I am not recommending this hotel to anyone.

We enjoyed our stay at Hof Gorei. My only qualm is - it was too short!

Reservation was easy. Hof Gorei called me up and enquired how I would like to be picked up, any particular type of rooms we wanted, any other activities we wanted to do. They stayed in touch on the phone. So they had already made a good impression on me before I arrived!

Of course, my emails were promptly replied.

By the way, they have a lot of choice - we stayed at the beach front cottages (which are also surrounded by greenery - see our photos) but just 15 steps from the beach (sand nearly as white as Boracay, but not so less powdery.). On the other hand, for pure nature lovers, they have a chalet right on top of the hill with stunning views, and surrounded by dense forest and chirping birds (did I mention, there are 4-5 semi resident hornbills which fly freely, but often visit the resort. we played around by throwing small fruit in the air and they caught them! apparently they are expert catchers - this was told to us by the staff themselves - who are very courteous and pretty informative).

Rooms -
Very good. Air con, made native style with nipa walls, but pretty modern inside. Soft bed, clean, good CR with hot water and branded fittings, TV (a few cable channels - GMA, etc. not so many, but frankly only an idiot would spend time watching tv here! he he)

Check in -
As soon as we arrived, we were served welcome drinks at the jetty itself. One of the staff told us that she would be our personal care taker all through our stay. To call her, all we had to do was ring a bell outside our cottage! We felt real special and important!

Food -
Excellent. We had fish and chicken. It is a tad expensive, understandable since everythign comes from mainland.

They arranged our morning breakfast on the beach (we wanted dinner there too, but it was raining). Very cliched, but very romantic.

How to reach ?
Hof gorei runs a free boat (takes 1 hour) from Sta Ana wharf Davao (near Magsaysay park) to the resort. It is only at 11 am and 2 pm. So timings tend to be restrictive.

Activities -
We spent time just relaxing, watching the resident geese, turkeys and chicken outside our cottage, sitting on the beach staring into eternity (it is very quiet, and Thank God - no Karaoke!), snorkeling a bit (okay - lots of starfish and sturgeons. water is very clear). If we had more time , we would have gone to other places closeby like pearl farm (10 minutes by boat) and Talicud... maybe next time.

All in all, a great place to stay - keep 2-3 days to have a good time

The beach is not good to swim just to watch, the Island hopping is quite the less good I ever tried, the room was quite not splendid but clean. But I loved the people of this resort, always trying to take care of you, anytime, and most of the time enjoying our breakfast alone on the terrace. Good moments...

Me and My fiancee Xavier were in an adventure to see the beauty of Samal Island only by a motorcycle. We search on the internet just before we went to the Island the best Resort they could have and we went there for our first option but sadly we don't like the system there and it was too expensive. As we look on our map we try to look for #2 but we already reached #5.. we really find a way to see on this mysterious resort.. on the road there is no sign leading there.. and luckily a kind gentleman lead us to that very resort. and the road was ohh so adventurous.. :)
when we got there, we see it was very nice and peaceful.. they don't have strict security (other resort check all things and its very annoying), we enter the resort freely..and as we reached the bar we order 2 glasses of icecream with a cherry on the top.. in our mind that this really is it..In other hotels and resorts if we ask if we can see the rooms available so we can choose they don't allow,, and wow in this resort really is free..What i love most in this resort was our butler who really is kind and very hard working and very fun---- Neilbert.. We will never forget this name.. He made our stay very nice. And first thing he did that really impress us was the setup on our very first dinner and it was very romantic <3
and all the meals breakfast, lunch and dinner, really he made effort..
We love over all the place, it was so beautiful , full of nature, with friendly animals and a friendly environment and workers.. And the style of the lobby, really is WOW!! so unusual and very nice.. and also with other cottages.. The food, really delicious especially the dessert; and we will never forget the Fried Icecream..
It really is a Place to Remember <3 <3 <3

We went there on a planning conference from May 10-12, 2012. During our stay, I had to ask them to prepare a special eating plan. From my first meal to the last, it was done so tastefully and so good! The beef was soft and tender, the tuna steak was generous and just right =)
I saw some of the food they served the other guests who were on buffet and it looked so good! and in one of the evenings, the mango float dessert was so lovely and delish!
I asked April, the owner why even their kangkong ( water spinach) was exceptionally good, she said, they have their own garden and most of the vegetables and fruits we eat are from the resort's gardens. There are many animals / birds there and their papayas are so fresh and good. No wonder wild birds come and visit the place in the early mornings.
They are right, they are truly close to nature and thus, there are insects that live there =) But Our room was clean and nice, although the bathroom from the hut was separated by a few steps, I guess its just part of the experience.
Downside though was that the conference room aircon was not cool enough and we ended up opening the windows to let the fresh air come in.
Oh and swim at the wharf in the morning, so many fishes, including angel fish, star fishes to see! If you cant swim, wait for the low tide, and walk on the shallow waters, pick up some star fishes ( a lot of first timers did this on our trip, as well as those who cant swim and loved it! )

go and try the refreshing spring that you need to climb 200+ steps, the view is relaxing ( highest point and worth the trip) and then dip in the fresh cold spring. I literally felt so refreshed and relaxed after. =)

Thank you again April, and the rest of the butlers that served us, special mention to Gadiel , who truly was good and helpful with all our requests.

I dont know maybe its the expectations that hit other reviews, its way too high. When you go to islands, set your mind to relax and enjoy the things of nature. thats all I can say.
