“long over due”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Spice Club
The Spice Club is where the Spice Dive restaurant was, but the new owners have added a large “Bale” (pavilion) and rondavel for relaxing afterwards out on the sand where the locals had their beach soccer pitch, which is accessed via a wooden pathway over the newly built swimming pools. The furniture is white with turquoise trim as are the staff with their turquoise trousers, white top with matching turquoise trim. The whole effect is very smart indeed. Now there are 2 eateries that maximise the view of the bay (The Sea Breeze is the other) We were treated to not only the fishing boat lights, but also flashes of distant lightning which lit up the sea. Very spectacular. So back to the beginning. It had its official opening on February14 which was attended by 170 guests and I glad we were not part of that. We chose to go the next day and following our fridge magnets advice of “life is uncertain, eat desert first” we went along for afternoon tea and to check out the menu. Happy to report that they make an excellent deserts and coffee. We booked for dinner and we accepted a free pick up from our hotel. Table service was excellent and in talking to some of the staff later found out that though they were locals, some had worked on cruise boats and had been well trained. I reserve my judgement on the food. Presentation was very good and tasty. Not quite up to “The Pearl” in Seminyak or “Bridges” in Ubud, but close. Looking forward to returning in 13months time to see how it’s faring. I hope they do well as there is nothing like it on Bali’s north coast and its long over due.

Great atmosphere, good food, chill music, extremely well trained and friendly staff!
Beautiful scenery and great sunset experience with.
Prices are at level, but good price/product relation.

Just enjoy whilst in Lovina, you will be surpised... the setting reminded us to Ibiza -:)

“Lovely staff, terrible food and drinks, poor value”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

We were a party of four visiting this restaurant after 9 days in Bali. Compared to other dining experiences in Bali, this fell far short. Although the wait staff were excellent and the location on the beach was nice, the dinner and drinks were very expensive and of poor quality. The drink prices are almost double any other restaurant in the area. One dish was sent back to the kitchen and replaced. The other food was just okay. Irish coffees at the end of the meal were actually lattes with a bit of irish whiskey added. We left after expressing our dissatisfaction to the manager who offered drinks, which we declined - it was too little, too late.

It cost 2 million rupiah for dinner and drinks. A beautiful meal can be had at Le Jaenzan for half the price.

“Finally, Lovina is also having its relaxing place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Lovina was a bit of a boring place. That has been changed now. The Spice Beach Club offers a great place to stay, relax, listening to good music, having a drink and enjoy a delicious meal. Great laid-back atmosphere. We can recommend this place!!
