“Warm and toasty!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

This is a wee hidden jewel in Raetihi's fading crown... fortunately while the rest of the town appears in dire need of a pick-me-up, Angel Louise continues to please. It's a scenic hour's drive from Wanganui in one direction and to Taumarunui in the north probably about the same . As you are coming in from Wangas (south, heading north) turn left at the main junction, at the turnoff to Ohakune (on the right).
Look for the wind flag/banner that is up on the left hand side, about 1/2 way down the main thoroughfare...
I love the rustic feel, the time-worn outlook and the appeal of hot chocolate, latte or choice of beverage waiting for you when you need a break and a leg stretch. They do takeout if you really need to rush away but take my word for it, take your time, embrace the stillness and if it's a fine day - grab a local paper and enjoy the garden and tables out the back. The fare on the menu is appetising and there is enough of a choice to please everyone's palate. I have to say the cake, scones and muffins are just like Mum used to bake.

“Quality coffee and scone, but no wifi available”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I had morning coffee here last weekend - coffee and a date scone. While the scone and coffee were of good quality, I was disappointed that reliable wifi wasn't available. However, as there are basically no other cafes in Raetihi, they do have a monopoly. Poor little Raetihi - it's been a dying town for many years with little to improve the situation. Most shops in this town are boarded up.

“A delightful place to while away the hours”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Went in for morning coffee and stayed through into the afternoon. Lovely coffee and a quiet sanctuary of a garden, so stayed and stayed through lunch and beyond. Easy relaxed atmosphere and pleasant helpful staff. Shady trees provided coolness in the middle of a hot sunny day. Go try it!!!

“Good coffee and wifi in pleasant surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Raetihi is small and struggling, obviously only sustained by travellers stopping over to ski in winter or canoe the river in summer.
Most of the shops are closed and for sale but there are hidden gems such as the Angel Louise cafe, a friendly welcoming space on the main street with good coffee, food and wifi.
Well worth a visit.

“Good Food and Coffee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Nice place to stop for a top of coffee on the way from Wanganui to Taupo. Friendly staff, with good coffee and food. Character building and internet cafe, good menu and clean restrooms
