“Unforgetable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2011

We chose Damai as our fist stop on Bali. The idea was to visit the north, middle and south part of the island.
The place is located quite out of town, but it helps to keep quite and nice atmosphere there.
If you seek for crowdy and busy place, DAMAI is not for you.
It is a hotel for people who need peace, for those who love nature - amazing garden!, want to release stress.
We were checked in one of the small villas. Everything was clean, intertior was simple, but with nice design, with rustic touch. We enormously enjoyed outside shower and jacuzzi - kudos for the owners of the hotel!
Breakfast - wide range of products, FRESH, delicious!
We also tried their kitchen in the evening and everything was perfect too. The only thing that surprised us was the price of wine. Way too expensive.

If there is one thing that disappointed us a bit, it would be the service at the reception. Nobody informed us on the day of arrival about the activities that had been incl.in the price. And if it was not the manager of the hotel, we would have missed them.

Neverthless, we left Damai EXTREMELY happy and relaxed.

It was an amazing place and we're sorry we only had 3 nights. It is the perfect place to chill out and spoil yourself with a good atmosphere and delicious food. The staff was always present and friendly and we had the feeling that “no” was not an option. We loved all the lights in the garden and the fireplace that each evening was installed at the poolside

We stayed in the Deluxe Villa, which offers a rather basic accomodation. Quite basic interior. The bathroom is rather small and even with best intention we couldn’t follow the calculation that the accommodation would have 68m². It was rather 30m². The prices for food including snacks in the hotel are extremely high (e.g. around 25 USD for a burger) especially compared to other upscale hotels in Bali. As a comparison - just before the Damai we stayed in Komaneka, which is fantastic five star hotel in Ubud, but with prices for drinks, food and spa only 50% of those at Damai. Though facilities of the Damai - such as the pool are nice, we were pretty disappointed with the quality of the villa. The more upscale villas might be a good catch but the basic villa does not offer the value it promises. Overall poor value for money.

Love this place!!! We had the most beautiful villa with a negative edge pool overlooking the jungle and ocean. Service at Damai was wonderful from the reception to the villa butler to theroom service and spa. All top notch! The food was fresh and delicious. The resort has an old world charm with very contemporary and liveable villas.

If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the resort areas on Bali, this is the place. From the private cottages to the gormet meals and outstanding service, Damaii rules. The great views, infinity pool and relaxed attmosphere more than make up for the somewhat isolated location in the foothils ouside Lovina. We only stayed for 2 nights but plan on staying longer on our next visit to Bali.

Perfect gem of a resort with world-class dining and wonderful staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble with all the graceful men and women that look after the few (there’s only 12 villas) lucky guests that stay in this perfect little place. Villas are stunning, food is fantastic, and North Bali is just the perfect getaway, far from all the crowds. Great for food-lovers, lovers of culture, lovers of nature or just lovers.

What a fantastic place! Everything is perfect here in this little paradise on the hill - the food, the service, the views and the villas. We had a villa with two bedrooms and two (!) swimming pools and felt like kings and queens - we definately didn't feel like leaving this wonderful place. Well be back.
