“Iconic Hotel with fabulous details.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

After visiting several great hotels at Bali this one tops the list. It has a calm and professional atmosphere that support the guests in a discrete and not intruding way. The villa we stayed in had an iconic design like a combination of the Danish museum lousianna and old Japanese style housing.
Fantastic place to stay.
At the same time the restaurant had a very high quality. In fact we chose to eat there all evenings during our stay.
Because the quality of the kitchen is so high it is bad that they not chose to offer more Indonesia dishes.

All in all we visited 4 different hotels at Bali that had approximately the same price range.

My wife and I had a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.
Food was 5*
Staff, loving and attentive
Spa treatments-unique and the best had so far
GM-made the difference!
Brought my laptop but did not open it.
The 3 hour drive to Damai and 2.5 hour drive back to Denpasar didn't matter.

I chose this secluded "off the beaten" path boutique hotel due to the great reviews I had read and we were not disappointed. After we had problems on the first day with the A/C leaking, we upgraded to a pool villa (although I thought that should have been complimentary due to the circumstances). The PRIVACY is incredible. I loved the pool and the outdoor bale pavilion was huge! Lots of relaxing time there. The spa staff were happy to come to our room for his/her treatments. We loved the flexibility in the breakfast service - in your room or at the restaurants any time. I had never experience this and we have been all over the world. The made from scratch pastries and condiments were delicious. The gardens were beautiful and were were happy to know that some of the ingredients were grown there. Although this hidden gem is quite a distance from the airport, it is well worth the extra travel time. The attention to detail is superior. We had the most memorable excursion to the falls with so many small local temples on the way. I never wanted to leave.......

We stayed in a pool villa and this is a great experience. The hotel is located in the hills so you have a fantastic view over both the forest and the sea. Dining is a great experience because of the high quality of the food (try the Balinese menu) and the view (book a table at the poolside). Staff couldn't be more friendly! Many thanks especially to Eka who took our young boys to see the hotel's farm. North of Bali is a good place to stay because it's far less crowded than more known places of Southern Bali. The Damai is highly recommended.

This small resort provides luxurious rooms and amazing food (best nasi goreng on our trip) in an incredible jungle setting.
We splurged on a one bedroom pool villa and were upgraded to the two bedroom master villa--wow! Incredible views of the jungle with the ocean in the backround. Two private decks and pools and a huge covered lounging area.
The rooms are really well decorated in a dark exotic look. Lots of interesting pieces of furniture and artifacts but not cluttered. Incredibly comfortable bed.
Food was great--the best breakfast on the trip. An incredible amount of food, including great baked goods, happily brought to our room by friendly servers. Dinner was lovely, with two types of homemade bread. Be sure to request a table by the pool when you make you reservation. Lunch offered interesting salad options and killer desserts.
We were only there two nights and did not do much but get a massage and eat. It rained solid the day we were there, but it is just as pretty in the rain. Lovely setting with a bridge over a river. A civilized jungle experience! Highly recommended, but be prepared for a 4 hour drive.

What can you say about the Damai... There are no words to describe it. We went there for our honeymoon and we don't think we could have made a better choice.

It is a hidden paradise. It is in the nicest part of the island (though a bit far from the airport so I would suggest at least a 4 night stay but to be honest maybe a 14 night stay would be much better) away from allthe noise and traffic of the south part of the island.

The hotel itself is amazing. We stayed at the pool villa which I definitely recommend. Very clean rooms (it was cleaned twice a day) with very stylish furniture and decoration. I loved the fact that the pool water was ionised and chemical were not used at all. The view from our pool was absolutely stunning. Tropical gardens and the see at the background.

The restaurant and the spa also met our high expectations. The staff is probably the friendliest that we have met in a hotel all around the globe. Thanks everyone for eveything

Damai. Hard to find but harder to leave

P.S. Special thanks to the GM and Astika and all the stuff who made our stay there so memorable

Room Tip: Try to stay at the pool villas. Definitely worth the extra cost

In every way this hotel is better than anywhere else I have stayed. It deserves more than five out of five on all counts. The setting is magnificent. The gardens, pool, restaurant and rooms are all perfect in every way. We stayed in a deluxe villa which I believe is the most basic. There is nothing basic about it. Beautiful! The shower in the garden was gorgeous.
The food was amazing. Homemade and fresh everything!
The drinks were equally brilliant- thank you Astika. Cranberry mojitos are my new favourite drink.
Above all the staff were exceptional! All of them. Friendly and helpful of course-but also confident and extremely competent in their jobs. There was never a "I'll just get someone to help you" because everyone knew what to do.
Can't recommend this place highly enough. I was very sad to leave.

Room Tip: I don't think they have bad rooms!
