“A stay to celebrate my first 60 years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Attracted to this rural location as a result of a 'Secret Escapes' offer for bed, breakfast, evening meal & afternoon tea.
We wanted to stay 3 nights (Saturday-Monday) but could only secure the 'Secret' deal for the Sunday - Monday.
Spoke to a very helpful and honest lady at the hotel (Kirsty). She advised that they normally tried to allocate Junior Suites to the 'Secret' bookings, was happy to reserve one for the Sunday-Monday and suggested we consider The Valley Suite for the Saturday, admittedly at a premium. Said we could view a Junior Suite on arrival to help us decide whether we wanted to swap, if not we could remain in the Valley Suite for £30 per night.
Although the Junior Suites are excellent, once you have tasted cream then milk is always going to be in second place.

We stayed put and enjoyed the super king sized bed, separate seating area with panoramic views of the golf course and beautiful bathroom.

Although the Hotel is not particularly inspiring from the exterior, the interior is very tastefully decorated, clean with lovely light seating area's.The 'Brasserie' restaurant is elegant, excellent menu & the quality of food and service matches.
Breakfast is in the same setting. Cereals, fruit juices, pastries, fresh fruit & continental breads are on a self service basis. Tea/Coffee,toast and a varied cooked menu are all made to order and served.

The full afternoon tea harks back to the upstairs/downstairs era,is beautifully presented, wonderful quality and very filling.

The Sports Club has a very large well equipped gymnasium, squash courts, outside tennis hard courts, sauna & steam rooms. The swimming pool is large enough for lane swims and incorporates a childrens pool.
I do not play golf but the two courses looked in fantastic condition and judged by the number of regular and visiting players (ladies & gents) it is very popular.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a very comfortable hotel with very helpful, informative, polite and happy staff.

Having had a three night break at Barnham Broom Hotel and Golf with my wife and friends. The hotel, food and staff were excellent. The Golf courses were good, but long and unforgiving but in the main a good challenge of golf, would not hesitate to revisit.

Stayed here 15th june, it was just a night away for my partner and myself of which neither of us play golf !!! but we had a very enjoyable time. We booked a summer special of which consisted of 2x 1hour spa treatments, afternoon tea, breakfast and free use of all leisure facilities. The spa treatment was very good and staff were friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea was great and service was brilliant, but the two of us couldnt manage to eat all the yummy cakes, the was loads!!! We were upgraded to a junior suite free of charge on arrival and found the room to be fantastic with loads of little extras and a nice coffee selection oh and not to forget the real comfy extra large bed. The breakfast was plentiful with a good menu selection, we both opted for the full english!!! And were delighted we did, she loved the beans being served in a little saucepan on your plate!! Unfortunately we didnt have an evening meal or use the leisure facilities so cant comment on either. But our overall opinion of barnham broom hotel was excellent and well worth a visit we would stay again.

We have just returned from a much needed break away at Barnham Broom Hotel, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who needs some down time. The hotel is in the most beautiful setting. My husband was very impressed with the look of both courses, although didn't play as we were only away for one night.
The staff are friendly, polite yet unintrusive. The staff on reception in particular were very helpful.
The room was gorgeous, the decor sumptuous, we stayed in a junior suite and to be honest I could have stayed there for the entire 24 hours it was so roomy.
On arrival we were served afternoon tea, which despite deciding we couldn't possibly finish all the sandwiches, and delicious cakes and scones that were brought to us, somehow managed to without too much trouble at all?
Dinner in the evening was beautifully served and once again delicious, the Brasserie has only recently been reopened and has been refurbished to a very high standard, we ate in the early evening and were lucky enough to have the stunning vista of the golf course to look out onto whilst being served dinner.
The sports bar was lively as the American Open was on, but the lounge bar was also open if you were in need of a little peace and quiet.
Breakfast again was wonderful and the choice was excellent, I did wonder at the size of the full english whether having had one there was a strong possibility of not playing to your handicap out on the course for the front 9, but hey what do I know, it looked delicious.
Two hours spent reading the papers out on the sun terrace with coffee finished our "time out" perfectly, and for me, the not wanting to leave said it all.
Thanks to all the staff, and we will be back, to sample the spa and the golf.

Just returned from Barnham having spent 5 enjoyable days of golf. Myself and eleven friends have been visiting each June for the last16 years and have seen many changes. The hotel and golf courses have always been excellent however we always treated the restaurant as a joke due to strange dress codes, insufficient servings and bad service. This year we arrived to a new makeover in the restaurant now called 'The Brasserie ' and boy have they nailed it !!! Food was excellent and plentiful and the staff could not do enough for us. Although not meant as a complaint, one of our party mentioned that there could have been more vegetables with the meal to one of the staff. This obviously got back to the Chef who ensured that our future meals were not short of Veg, and introducing himself and ensuring we were pleased with our meal. Well done Barnham, will see you next year.

Room Tip: If visiting for golf suggest afternoon tee off times as it becomes very quiet on both courses after...

Just got back from a golf weekend at Brnham broom, this is my 4th visit here and although we had a superb weekend the hotel seems like it is getting every last penny it can out of you and would definatly look for a bit more value for next trip....

Examples of bar prices....£4.50 for a pint of beer!!..... £10 for a Tuna sandwich with a coffee!! that a child could have presented better

Restaurant on the evening was very average...once again charging over the top for any side orders £2.75 portion of about 7 chips... that were served to you after you had finshed your main meal!!! £8 for a glass of very average wine!

Did not get to try the breakfast as I got fed up with waiting for waiter to arrive

The 2 golf courses were both in good condition..challenging and interesting although the greens were rock hard and could have done with watering

on check out had to question my bill as there were items on there that could not be justified!

Although overall weekend was very enjoyable it was due to the company we shared as oppose to the hotel...

I would therefore not recommend this hotel and would say there are many others that offer far better value for a weekend break
