“A lovely short break.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We were not interested in the Golf Packages so that's not why we went but we had a wonderful stay.

The Spa facilities are very good and the range of treatments by nice therapists is excellent. The pool was a bit smaller than we thought it would be but still managed a decent length swim. The sauna and steam room were welcome additions too. The sport facilities are a bit separate to where the rooms and main hotel are so it could be awkward trekking there in the rain but was no problem for us. Just remember your £1 coin for the lockers in the changing rooms.

The staff were extremely helpful, particularly when I couldn't connect to the internet in the room at first. The rooms are well equipped and very nicely "done". The TV was huge, the bed was comfortable and the Molton Brown toiletries were a treat to use.

The highlight for us was the food. The breakfasts were well organised, I so love it when an order is taken and we are "waited" on. The evening meals were wonderful...the chef is to be highly recommended. Al he waiting staff were extremely polite and helpful creating a relaxed environment.

We loved it here and would highly recommend it whether you like golf or not.

Room Tip: I imagine all rooms to be fine as they are situated around a courtyard.

We recently married and had our ceremony and wedding breakfast at the hotel. It's a beautiful setting for a celebration. Our day was just as we had hoped, and all the staff, disco, toastmaster, food and organisation were very professional but very friendly and accommodating, even when table plans needed to be changed at the last minute! This all contributed to making it a really special day to remember, and several of our wedding guests have given us good feedback on the hotel and staff too, and were impressed by the recently refurbished rooms.

We stayed here for one night on a golf package, our second visit. There are two courses here,we had booked to play both of them. On our last visit the Valley Course was closed due to flooding; this time both were closed on the second day due to dense fog! Apparently this often happens. We enjoyed playing the Hill Course, and will certainly return. We had supper in the Flints Restaurant which we thought was excellent, high quality food and service and a nice atmosphere even though there were several large groups staying. We had a standard room which was warm and comfortable though fairly small, two large men may have found it rather too cosy! The hotel is set in beautiful countryside, with easy access to Norwich and the Norfolk Broads

Room Tip: Some of the ground floor rooms have a limited view of an inner courtyard, it may be worth paying for...

I recently stayed in one of the refurbished rooms.
I was certainly to a high standard, almost boutique style rooms.
For a quiet night away from the city, it was perfect.
The hotel in general wasn't up to as higher standard as the room we had.

Room Tip: We had the pleasure of staying room number 12.

Last visit was 5 years ago and was good enough to merit a return, but this visit totally exceeded memories and expectations. Heard the rooms had been redone and went for an upgrade (good value) this time - nice view over the course, well thought through, elegant and cosy rooms with excellent bed and big flatscreen tvs. Restaurant needs a bit of updating but service was professional and our dinner was excellent and breakfast was more than ample. Valley Course was in great condition. Greens were good and slick, plenty of hazards on approach so happy to finish 15 shots over par, having dropped 2 balls in the water. Finished off with late lunch in the busy SportsBar where we had a bit of a wait, but staff were friendly and my venison burger and chips could not be faulted. Overall good value and planning a return trip

Room Tip: first floor rooms are worth the xtra but no lift

We stayed in this hotel over a weekend in October and were suprised and dissapointed by the fly infestation that affected all parts of the hotel. In the restaurant and bar we were constantly bothered by flies, the cuttlery was dirty/sticky as were the plates. I am glad I did not see the kitchen. The room we were given was on the ground floor and faced the car park so we had to keep the blinds closed at all times. This made the room seem very dark and that with the small size of the room did not enhance our stay. I would not recommend this hotel as it does not reach 5 star standards. At best this is a golf club with B & B accommodation.

Room Tip: Don't stay here but if you do try to choose a room away from the car park.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are very sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience at Barnham Broom. We take reviews like this very seriously and please be assured that we will be following up your complaints with our Restaurant. We have taken measures to prevent flies in all areas of the hotel and we have initiated further training sessions for all Restaurant staff.

With regards to your comments on our accommodation, I feel that your statement likening Barnham Broom as a Golf Club with B & B accommodation is not fair. We have recently invested £1.5 Million in refurbishment in our hotel rooms which have been likened by many as being am exceptionally high standard. Although we do not meet 5 Star standards (we are a 4 Star establishment) we do strive to provide accommodation, service and an experience of the very highest standard.

Thank you once again for taking the time to write this review.

This was our 1st time to this HPB site. We were more than happy with our apartment, looking out to the 18th Fairway of the Valley course.
We played every day either the Hill or Valley course- excellant value as there is not Green fees when staying HPB. We are low handicap players but they are real challenge and a mecca for losing balls easily plenty rough and lots of ditches and water hazards !!
The apartment was spotlessly clean, warm and had every thing we required. Our only gripe was the beds, the double bed was in the smallest room and only a 4'6 bed we would expect a King size bed. So for a weeks stay not ideal.
Flints restaurant excellant but found the Sports bar prices quite high for simple sandwich menu.
The Spa was very good but a pity that its not connected to the Pool leisure area. The spa treatment list is very extensive and well worth a 2 hour slot of pleasure.
We will definately be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in self catering apartments with HPB.
