“Very relaxing stay at Dunston Hall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay. Service, friendliness of staff and food was outstanding. Our room was king size and very comfortable. Only negative thing would be there aren't many places close to the hotel to eat if you don't want to eat at the hotel. But this won't stop us from visiting sometime very soon.

Stayed here for a friend's wedding. The hotel was lovely, maybe a little on the expensive side. Be prepared to pay a fortune for drinks. Breakfast was fab so almost made up for it. There was plenty of choice of food although the restaurant was a bit too busy. Rooms were lovely, although not very well ventilated so was quite uncomfortable to sleep in.

We stayed for a 2 night break which started fine but went downhill shortly after that. the shower was broken, so used the bath. we were told it would be fixed while we were out the next day, it was't. we were moved to another room, clean and comfortable (some of our clothes were left in the old room) which had a shower room so no bath this time, food was good, but on a cafeteria style unusual not to served at table at a 4 star hotel. On the whole a disappointing stay and not very relaxing. management were informed by email, and promptly contacted me to apologise and offer preferential rate for next visit. For a 2 night stay I was offered a discount of £10!! I declined and went elsewhere in Norwich. So as I said "Disappointing"

Got to the hotel at 15:30, however room was not ready until at least 7pm, so was offered an upgrade into a four poster suite (paid for double deluxe). The room was fantastic with an amazing view overlooking the golf course (Nice water hazard was fun to watch). The hotel itself was a lovely historic building. The only things I think need to be upgraded would be a fresh lick of paint here and there and sort out some creaky floor boards. All staff were very friendly.

Will be staying again for sure.

After spending the day here for a friends wedding and reception we booked a block of rooms in advance, because of the wedding package we managed to negotiate a deal on 15 double rooms, when we came to check in the manager and all the staff had no idea about anything even tho we had the conformation emails and demented we payed all of it, after a hour and a half of sorting that we then went to our room ( having to go down a flight of stairs to go back up) and it was covered in dust and the bathroom looked like it hasn't been cleaned in about a year! After we got past this we decided to go for a drink before the reception but only to find we had to wait 30 minutes to be served at the bar! And there was only one member of staff serving!
When we went to the reception we were disgusted to find that all of our glasses from the mornings activities were still lying around collecting wasps and they were in no rush to do anything about it,

Myself and a friend stayed for one night on a pamper day package. The rooms are very tired and in desperate need of some attention especially the bath room, sink cracked, tiles around bath dirty and stained, bedroom very tired looking although linen clean. Restaurant also very outdated although food was very nice and friendly staff. The treatments in the spa were very rushed. We have stayed in various hotels on a similar package and we found this the worst and one of the more expensive.

I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions whilst on business in East Anglia. The location is excellent for access to Norwich and East Anglia.

The hotel is very impressive as you approach and gives you a good indication of the type of hotel it is.

The hotel is very solid, although it feels very old fashioned and certain elements feel that they need refreshing. The bathrooms for example need updating and tidying up. The rooms are starting to look and feel tired as are some of the communal areas. They are very clean however.

I was also very surprised by the lack of air conditioning in my room. It was a warm evening making the night uncomfortable.

The staff are very efficient, but are obviously told to take a more professional (and again old fashioned) approach to customers, meaning they can come across as slightly cold.

The bar is a nice place to sit and the food was of a good quality and cheaper than expected for a hotel of this type.

I enjoy staying at this hotel and would certainly recommend it. Also, given it is usually cheaper than the lower quality Holiday Inn on Ipswich Road it makes the hotel good value for money.

Room Tip: A lot of the rooms are a long way from reception and there are a lot of stairs, it would be worth as...
