I don't know how to describe what a wonderful time my husband and I had at this hotel! First off, it is situated in this adorable medieval village about 15-20minutes from Figueres. The location of the town is a great because you can easily get to all the attractions and coastal towns. We spent about 4 nights in Barcelona, then rented a car and headed to Costa Brava. This is the way to vacation, enjoy the hustle and bustle of a city, but then get to the countryside and coast to relax. We chose this hotel entirely because of previous reviews, and let me tell you, they were right! I don't know what I loved the most, our hosts, our suite, the grounds, or the food. We stayed in Room #7, which is the suite with a private balcony and spectacular views of Sant Llorenc. The room is decorated really cool. It is a huge suite with a living room, dining table and desk. We relaxed completely while we were there. One night we just watched movies on the DVD player, which felt great especially after traveling for two weeks straight. As for the hotel property, it was breath taking. Just look at my photographs to see how beautiful they made this hotel. However, favorite thing about this hotel is the food! Cristina is an unbelievable cook, correction, she is a chef. Seriously, we ate there all three nights that we stayed at the hotel, and every meal was magnificent. I am not exaggerating. Her gazpacho is the best I have ever had (and I had it almost every day in Spain), and the duck magret is unbelievable, and of course, the wine suggestions made for excellent pairings with our dinners. This is truly a magical place created as a labor of love. Cristina and Stephan are such wonderful hosts and truly nice people, that they alone are worth the visit. I can't say enough good things about our stay at the hotel. I wish there was a place as amazing as this in the States, but of course we have nothing that old or with as much charm as Hotel Torre Laurentii.
