“Being renovated - budget choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

Brace yourself before staying here. Some of the rooms are undergoing renovation, some are in quite a sad state. In mine, toilet did not flush and got a bit smelly, the tap gave brownish water first, shower curtain kept falling on the floor, air con was noisy and weak, an electric fan was provided. There's a construction site next door so expect noise and dust. On the positive side, they seemed to be doing what they can, it was clean apart from the floor mats and quite spacious. Good for those on a shoestring, 75 EC$ a night. There is a restaurant by the water downstairs - but I felt like eating elsewhere - and a supermarket too.

This is one of those places that looks better the next day after a good sleep. If you are a seasoned backpacker traveller you will be more than fine here and the solo price of $80EC makes this a good option. Not a lot of other options in town and nothing I could find under $100 USD. It definitely has it's rough edges...the dumping site next door at the back of the petrol station (no tractors starting at 7am though during my 2 nights), the ongoing room renovations going on around you (no noise at night just mess), the steel band in the restaurant most nights (which you can barely hear with the aircon and fan on), the toilet that doesn't flush and the sink with no water (until you realize you need to turn the water on). Having said that you do get a spacious room with TV and lounge chair and 2 beds which whilst def firm provide an OK sleep. Aircon rattles a bit but works and the fan blows hard. Only had cold water but not an issue during March which is still quite hot. Very central right in the main street. Offers a paid breakfast in the restaurant (but ate elsewhere) and there is a supermarket on the ground floor. Captain Gourmet across the road has a reasonable coffee and a number of places to eat close by. No WIFI but you can pick up a somewhat spasmodic connection from the local Internet cafe from the room. Most restaurants close by offer free WIFI. No ferry to Becquai on a Tuesday. Make the effort to climb Fort Hill for great views especially if it is sunny.

This place is perfectly acceptable as a budget hotel. It is undoubtedly the cheapest place to stay in Clifton, and for a good price you can`t expect that much either. It was 95 EC for a double with bathroom.
There are many rooms located right over a restaurant, and the proprietor is the guy working in the shop. The room was perfectly fine to me. The bed was Ok, there was aircondition, a fan and a bathroom with a shower with cold water and very poor water pressure.
The only thing that was annoying was that the gas station next door has a tractor that is very noisy, and they chose to start it up at 7 in the morning. Stay in a room on the opposite side is my advise. If I go back to Union island I will stay there again.

Room Tip: Stay on tthe side that is not facing the gas station (noisy)

i stayed for a few nights. the rooms had ants in 2 days. it had roaches. "no rooms had cable" so i was told and then i heard a tv with "a tv playing" the sinks didnt work. i was given a bucket to wash my face with in the sink. fans were filled with brown dust as if theyve never been cleaned. the pilliow case broke out the left side of my face as if it werent clean. do not rent from them or stay on the right side closest to the warf if you a single women. the owners room is on that side and i felt as" if my every move was being watched by the owner. "

Room Tip: check the rooms before you rent. for the same price and near by you can find a room with a working s...
