“A true gem of a marina resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2011

On th south coast at Petit Calivigny Bay, a new marina and boutique resort development provides state of the art facilities and the best mechanic in Grenada. The resort houses customs & immigration, a small grocery and bakery, a car rental, several restaurants, a pool, beaches and other amenities. It’s quite the treat to stay there for a few days. Sort of a cruiser's vacation stopover. It’s quite exposed though and the surge can be really tough to handle (ergo the less than 5 stars rating). Plans are underway to build a breakwater which should help. The staff are delightful and very helpful and the facilities are topnotch. Overall, a great concept.

I had the privelage to stay at Le Phare Bleu for a one night stay and found the place to be very beautiful and well situated on Grenada’s eastern coast.
The one thing that I was really happy about with Le Phare Bleu was how accommodating and kind their staff were. From the moment that we arrived there, they knew who we were and sent us directly to our room (no problems what-so-ever)! And the room its-self was something amazing to experience! It is hard to find clean and comfy places in Grenada that accommodate their very warm weather (as well as bugs), but these rooms were designed appropriately for its surroundings. The bed was a VERY comfy king sized bed (with a net covering it), and the room was nice and cool from the air conditioner. The bathrooms were very clean, and very elegant with their tiled shower and resplendent lighting. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a wide open view of the ocean and harbour. The living room has a flat screen TV with cable and is also has a wide open (panoramic) view of the ocean. All rooms have a very large patio that encompass the room and are fully furnished with a dining table and a hanging dual chair!
Overall the stay was very pleasant and the people were friendly. I highly recommend at staying at Le Phare Bleu!

Just four nights, but we'll be back. The rooms were comfortable and had been furnished and equipped with care. Each one has a pleasant balcony and seating area facing the bay, with kitchen facilities if you wish. The bed was excellent, the linen good, and the air-con worked well. Everything is to a standard. This place hits the nail on the head if you want to be left to your own devices and not be disturbed by fussy service and false smiles. The restaurant overloooking the marina served a good breakfast and honest food at all times. The restaurant on the lightship gave us our best meal on Grenada, significantly better than the other well-known restaurants on the island - and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The pricing was more than fair, and all-in-all the stay exceeded our expectations. Our next trip is already booked, this time for longer.

We stayed for 7 nights at Le Phare Bleu and loved it. The pace of life is relaxed with excellent service and really luxorious villas (beautiful tiles in the bathrooms and the bed was huge and amazingly comfortable). Lovely breakfasts included. Kitchen facilities in the villa gave us the option to do meals ourselves which we appreciated. Our boys (12 and 14) kayaked, waterskied and swam all day. There are 2 sailing boats too if you feel competent. Safe swimming in the bay or the swimming pool. We had a car and travel round the island is easy and fascinating. Everyone speaks English and I have never met such genuinely friendly people. There are 2 restaurants - the poolside bar is perfect for easy lunches or specials in the evening - we ate on the lightship once (fine dining on a Swedish lighthouse ship - discover her history for yourself!) and loved every dish. Thoroughly recommend as a family holiday with lots of relaxation in a great location just 15 mins from St Georges - very good for feeling a million miles from everyday life!

After much internet trawling looking for hotels on the beautiful island of Grenada; my partner and I chose to stay at Le Phare Bleu Marina and Resort with our 16 month old child.
I am quite particular about where I sleep and am well aware that many resorts and hotels use clever photography on their website. However I was lost for words at Le Phare Bleu when we were shown to our apartment, as it was exactly as it was on the website!! No nasty surprises or tiny room with damp in the corners or bed sheets which looked as though they could do with good hot wash! No, everything was clean and in perfect order. Having air conditioning in the bedroom was brilliant for us especially with it being particularly hot in August. It meant that our baby slept well and we didn't have to worry about her being too hot. There is a TV in the apartment, but to be honest the island is too beautiful to stay in and watch TV, but there if you just want to relax at home.

The service from all staff was first class and delivered with a warm smile. When I say all the staff I mean absolutely everyone! The waiters and waitresses, management, security, gardeners, chefs...they all made our stay pleasant. We didn't want to go home! Whatever questions we had were always answered fully and help was always at hand.

Le Phare Bleu is actually well located and only roughly a 10 minute drive from Grand Anse where you can find banks, a pharmacy, food and of course the famous Grand Anse beach. Also approximately 10 minutes from the capital St. Georges, where you can find pretty much everything else. I would recommend hiring a car as it makes traveling just that little bit easier, especially with a little one. The roads are fine to drive on - pothole free. If you are not a driver, the buses are very good as they stop everywhere, but only on main roads. Of course you could spend your entire holiday on the resort as there is a little supermarket where you can get all of your essentials, and the food at the pool bar restaurant was lovely. Plus the pool is clean and quiet, or there is beach right next to it although it is not the best beach on the island.

We were thinking of returning to Grenada in 2011 and took it upon ourselves one day to have a look at a few other hotels which we came across on the internet, but none of them were better value for money or as cosy as Le Pahre Bleu. I highly recommend staying at this well planned and well staffed resort. You'll love it!!

We stayed at the Phare Bleu for 2 nights just before starting a catamaran trip from St. Georges through the Grenadines.

It is the only hotel in the area and there is nothing around. If you stay longer we recommend a rental car. For us it was fine without a car; the hotel personel was very helpful hiring a driver for half a day who showed us around the island and who was nice and reliable. We managed to explore about half of the island with him; for seeing more you need more time.

It was also nice to relax on the swing at the terrace of our room; it was actually an appartment with an open kitchen and living room, nicely decorated. The hotel consists of several 2 story buildings enbedded in a well maintained garden -and that was really a challenge to keep it green and blooming since the costal regions were extremely dry and brown as they had not seen rain for months.

The restaurant of the hotel serves decent food, fresh and tasty.

There is a more expensive upscale restaurant at the marina, the lighthouse boat. We highly recommend to have dinner there; the menu was very creative and it was delicious.

My wife and I stayed in Le Phare Bleu for approximately 3 weeks as part of our honeymoon.

We were mightily impressed, and this is possibly the best place we've ever stayed. We were so looked after from the moment we landed to the moment we left it was brilliant.

So the place itself: our room was on a lovely shorefront, overlooking a stunning marina. There is also a gorgeous old lightship which has been renovated into a fine dining restaurant. The bedrooms were large, air conditioned and had facilities for you to cook, tv, etc. The place was very tastefully decorated and opened out to really make you feel as if you're on the beach.

The service was impeccable and Lynn made us feel so special. There were petals on the bed when we arrived, champagne delivered to us (twice!), a mobile phone for our usage and it was obvious that they know how to treat people well.
It was the little things, ie when we moved to Carriacou (see our other review on here) for an ill-fated stay at a really poor place, we emailed Lynn to see if we could come back and she was beyond helpful for us.

The Vastra Banken lightship is a stunning renovation with fine dining by Mark which we enjoyed so much we went twice. The food on Grenada is not as varied as you would imagine as it is a small island, however Mark really works wonders (think Michelin * at a lot lower prices!) and was great to chat to as well.

The owners Dieter and Jana made us feel really welcome and took us to Hog Island for a day, and 2-3 other boat trips. Other places could easily have charged for this, but their love of sailing is infectious! They were really warm and welcoming.

Facilities wise, there is a lovely beach just 20 yards from the villa on which we saw so few people on it felt as though it was our own private beach. There is a lovely marina, a second more informal restaurant, a mini-market if you want to cook, car hire agent and a swimming pool. There is also all manner of kayaks, hobie cats etc which are free to hire.

Le Phare Bleu is relaxed, welcoming and pays close attention to detail. We would love to go back, and it really made our honeymoon so thanks to all of them: it was wonderful. It's great for kids, honeymooners or retirees alike.

If we really had to pick any bad points it would be that the photos just don't do it justice, it really is stunning but that is SUCH a minor point!
