We found a beautiful tablecloth for our new home! The staff couldn't have been nicer! Thank you to Giorgia for her patience and beautiful English!

“Intricate Lacework”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

Quite lovely pieces of work all hand made... From dresses, to table cloths, mantles, beddings, shoe patches, runners, monogramed hankies, fans, etc. There was an old lady, maybe in her 70s, creating small patches for a pair of black pumps... Such a sweet lady who has been doing it for years. A young lady, maybe in her teens, was also creating a few pieces. S nice to see 2 generations creating such lovely work... ensuring that this art will forever flourish. The pieces for sale were quite expensive, as you'd appreciate the amount of time invested in creating even just a small piece. But you can get a nice price if you purchase a few items.
Some items are also machine made, like the lace in an umbrella, but they would tell you that, which is good. The handwork is usually the intricate knitting that attaches the bigger lace pieces.
Beautiful pieces with historical value can also be found in the back room and the second level. A very elaborate wedding gown of some princess is also displayed.

“A Neat Alternative To The Lace Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2011

Burano is known for its lace, its fishing and its colourful houses. When my wife and I were there in October 2010 the Lace Museum was closed for renovations (I understand that it has now re-opened) The Lace Museum is one of the Venetian museums covered by the museum card and I understand that it is worth a visit. Since it was closed while we were there we took Rick Steves up on his suggestion to try out Lidia's. It is primarily a commercial establishment but the upper floors host an extensive collection of historical lace work. It is really quite impressive. This is also one of the few places on the island where you can see a woman quietly practicing the craft. The shop is pricey but you will be coming away with genuine lace work from Burano.
