“Beautiful hotel in a stunning location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

We only stayed one night so did not make full use of all the facilities but the rooms were great, we had a ground floor garden room with a great view out over the endless dunes. We had a couples massage the evening we arrived which was excellent, followed by dinner in Suhail restaurant which was also excellent. The staff were wall very friendly and efficient. The whole place is just stunning with beautifully kept communal grounds, water features and wonderful lighting along the pathways from dusk til dawn. We will be back for a longer break and will make use of the activities on offer and experience Liwa to the full extent of it's grandeur.

Room Tip: I think all rooms are equally as good, with desert views. Upper floors have verandas, lower ones hav...

quite far from Dubai but definitely worth the time to go there. It is an excellent Hotel in a wonderful surrounding. Top Arab style rooms, excellent breakfast and dinner. We also had a private Arabian dinner outside (it is definitely an experience). But most of all it is the dunes and the wonderful sunsets that makes this place so special

I spent three nights at this fantastic desert hotel and cannot recommend it strongly enough.

The resort is a fantastic mixture of interest/activity and total relaxation.

Built to resemble a Bedouin Palace the hotel is an amazing experience for anyone who knows little about desert life. The team here are keen to share their knowledge and their clear admiration of the natural environment and of the Abu Dhabi/UAE lifestyle in general. The resort activities are excellent - I tried 4x4 dune bashing, a tour of the Liwa area, and a sun-rise desert walk and all of them were interesting, educational, fun, and memorable. Muhammad and Azmat were both knowledgeable but fun guides.

When you've had enough activity the pool, spa, and gym are all outstanding.

All of the restaurants were good, but having watched the sun set behind the miles and miles of dunes there is no nicer experience than eating at the delicious Suhail top floor restaurant with good views over the desert or the night-time sky.

I understand all of the bedrooms have an Arabian décor, and mine was wonderful - a restful sleep after a day of high activity and peaceful relaxation.

The resort is about two hours away from Abu Dhabi city and airport. If you are anywhere nearby and feel you deserve a treat, book a few days here. You won't be disappointed, so don't hesitate.

Room Tip: I went for a double with balcony. It was a lovely room. But I could imagine for a couple with lots...

epic! it is an easy drive and is well worth it to see real desert. incredible location and very good architecture. our terrace room was fab and the view did not get boring. awesome service levels and really just somewhere that would be hard to repeat anywhere less remote

take gym kit and climb the big dune for sunset - stunning views, brings home how remote and beautiful it all is

Room Tip: terrace rooms afford amazing space and if the resort is busy this extra space would be wonderful. a...

We were in a 2 bedroom pool villa with an amazing view on the desert (Perfect with 2 kids).
The individual pool is very pleasant. The service is at the top (with buggies to transport you across the resort) ! The sunset from the top of the big dune (on the right of the resort) is amazing. The hotel is very quiet.

From the viewpoint of a desert newbie, the Qasr Al Sarab Resort is amazingly beautiful - I think it is one of those places that should be on everyone's bucket list. There are probably dozens and dozens of beautiful beach resorts, alpine retreats and rainforest hideaways all over the globe but very, very few top-end desert resorts and Qasr Al Sarab has got to be one of the best, if not the top one out there. The pictures posted here (from a phone camera) don't quite capture the true beauty of that gorgeous getaway.

About 2.5 hours south of Abu Dhabi, the scenic drive to the resort only serves to build up our excitement of getting there. The purpose-built 15 km concrete road from Hamim to the resort was itself a marvel to drive on - surrounded by beautiful terra-cotta desert dunes, the resort was nowhere to be seen for 10-15 minutes. When it finally came to sight, I can't help but wonder how on earth they built the expansive structures in the middle of nowhere and supply it with water and electricity!

We stayed in two connecting rooms - a suite and a deluxe room (was told only suites have connecting rooms) - and together those become a two-bedroom apartment with a living room and a lawn overlooking the pool. The view from the lawn/balcony was breathtaking. The suite has a huge bath that can probably accommodate four people! The beds and pillows were very comfortable and although decorated with dark colours, the rooms were bright and very clean. All the equipment worked but I found the light switches to be a bit too hi-tech for me (too many options between on and off). Overall, the rooms exceeded my expectations even after considering the prices they charged.

The food served there was good and the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were top-notch. And the service was good and quick, too. If not too windy, don't miss having dinner at the fire-lit tents set up in the sands just off the boundaries of the buildings.

Fair warning: Qasr Al Sarab is an expensive resort and to fully enjoy it, be prepared to pay premium prices for everything. There are no restaurants outside the hotel and the resort activities there were priced higher than normal - considering the remoteness of the location, probably not surprising.

Annoyance: the bedroom wi-fi router which was fixed under the writing desk. At night, its bright blinking light was irritating; I could not switch it off and had to cover it with a chair. Other than that, it was a perfect family vacation for the four of us.

Best enjoyed in the cooler winter months between December and February. Stay for at least two nights

Room Tip: Best rooms are those overlooking the pool.

We stayed during Ramadan and it was a beautiful, peaceful oasis. We were upgraded to a private pool villa and spent our time eating, drinking and relaxing in the pool looking across the panoramic dunes. Staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed the spa but felt the treatments were a little expensive.I think we amused the butler when we refused his buggy ride to walk into breakfast...
