Loved this hotel. A true desert oasis. Absolutely loved it. From our late night entrance zooming over the sand dunes.. to the fun camel rides and watching the sunsets every evening. It was a perfect honeymoon destination.
They have really done a great job transforming this place into a proper resort. For better or worse there is nothing around so you better like what they have but we were here for a week and didn't get bored (with the place or the food).
First the bad. Spa treatments are ridiculously expensive. Actually everything is expensive from the activities (you got to pay for the camel treks, dune bashing, etc) to the room service. But the quality was great. We also had an incident of a cockroach in our room (the balcony doors have a tiny gap and the critter came in one night) but can't really fault the hotel for that.
Now for the great. Arabian Adventures who organise the activities are super accommodating. They messed up our dune bashing time (they change the timing based on sunrise/sunset each day) so totally comped us for a make up session. The dune bashing is so fun but it really can cause motion sickness (2 people got sick on our session). I also recommend the camel riding and the bike trek.
All the staff were so attentive whether its the personal trainers in the gym, the waiters, or the people cleaning the rooms (they have over 400 staff and 40 different nationalities on site). They provide free water by the pool and also have a free sunglass cleaning service.
The buggies (golf carts) are also a blast. You can have them pick you up at your room and take you anywhere in the complex.
Although the spa is pricey, it definitely is in top tier in terms of service. I believe its a six senses spa (same company that provides spa services for Etihad business/first class lounges).
Anyway I can't gush enough about this place. Loved it. Definitely would do a return trip sometime for a sunshine break.
