The highlight of the hotel is the location. The photos you see do not give it justice, this is a special bay and therefore you do pay the price for staying here. But you have to do it once.
We stayed here for 5 nights in April. First 4 nights in middle Beach Front Suite (there are 3), very nice, but it is right next to the swimming pool! Great when nobody in the pool, but can get noisy, especially when children are noisy. Middle suite is best, the other 2 are either right next to the outdoor bar or next to where the towels are collected. The suite is very nice, good size and I liked the outdoor shower. Great to sit on the terrace in the evening when swimming has stopped!
For the last night we were moved to a Garden Pool Villa. This is definitely the "way to go". Did not miss the beach view at all! but really enjoyed the pool, while watching the dusky langurs (long tailed grey monkeys) playing in the trees.
The pool is pleasant, but we preferred the sea. There is the usual reserving of sun beds, which really irritates me, especially when people put towels and books on them at 6 or 7 then dont use them until 11 or 12 in the morning. There is a sign saying "no reserving" but people seem to ignore it. Unfortunately. This is something hotel management need manage.
We did not notice any bad smells from the eastern side of the hotel when walking there, which has been mentioned by others, either it has been rectified or another time of year. The temperature was hot, but not a problem for us coming from Oman, where its even hotter.
The food in the hotel is very good, we only ate Thai dishes, good price. Wine a bit pricey (to be expected) but beer very good. We also noticed a number of Thai people also coming from other hotels to eat here, which is always a good sign.
We also purchased cheaper beer and tonic water for mixers! from the little local shop in the hotel. We ate nowhere else but at the hotel, as we found it really good and good selection of dishes. There is international cuisine but we did not try. We did not travel to Thailand to eat beefburgers! The service was a bit slow at busy times, but we were on holiday so not in a rush! I can imagine a bit more difficult with hungry children.
The beach is good but the water is not that clear. Dont expect to go snorkelling here. Even kayaking around to local beaches to the south (recommended) the water is still not clear.
This is not an active holiday destination, unless you are a rock climber. But there are many places to walk, sit, relax, eat and drink and sunbathe.
We would return again but not stay for so long, 2-3 nights is good. On the whole, highly recommended.
Beach front suites next to pool, therefore can be noisy!
