“Very good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

We rented a house for 5 days at Railay Beach Club (house #18).
The place is excellent : you are in the jungle, with really high cliffs behind, and the sea is just 100 meters at the end of the dirt path.. paradise!
The house was ok, quite big and practical, but not very clean.
The staff was really friendly.

Room Tip: Houses far from the sea and the shopping street are quieter.

Oh I so wish I could give the beach club a top 5 stars as the location was beautifu, the houses beautiful, the experience mostly wonderful - however I have to comment on the services. The house keeping was fine...every three days was what we were told and thats what we got. They even do light house keeping daily which is nice. The not so great part was when we checked out. We had been stormed in so no boats were leaving for the mainland and we could not catch our flight back to bangkok. My husband and I, on our honeymoon, are standing out in the rain with our luggage with nowhere to sleep that night as we were checking out and Ralei Beach Club informed us they were full. There was an Australian lady at the front desk (in the midst of the rain and stress we unfortunately did not catch her name) but she was very rude and not helpful at all in helping us figure out our accommodations. The price we paid to stay by Thai standards, was very expensive and to not even have a staff member have the decency to help us find a hotel for the night or use the internet was very frustrating. The beach club's wifi went down and we could see that she had internet on her computer but did not allow us access. It was 5:55pm and she allowed us to use her phone but made it very clear that she was closing the office at 6pm so this was also not very helpful at all. Anytime we asked about anything the Australian lady would literally would point her finger and direct us to the beach to find a travel agent. She said walking street would have one and when we went there they couldnt help us at all, would not let us use the phone and were only available to discuss day tours. When we asked her what we should do with our luggage while we tried to figure everything out, she expressed that she could not hold it inside anywhere and put only let us put in the back patio, outside, unprotected in the rain. We are young and very tolerable and love to backpack in little beach huts on $15 dollars a day and this was a honeymoon splurge for us. Our $20 a night hotels had better service. She seemed very stressed out as well which was unsettling. We ended up strolling our luggage along the beach with no where to go, stranded, in the pouring rain. Ironically we found an extremely helpful hotel that allowed us to use their phone and gave us a comfortable air conditioned room for 1/6th the price we paid at Ralei Beach Club. That being said, the property speaks for itself and I am still glad to have stayed in such a beautiful property. The staff that provided the massages were very sweet as well.

A series of classic traveling issues and icky accommodation options on Railay East brought us here, and I am so glad they did. This is the only place to stay on Railay, in my opinion, and was the highlight of our whole month in Thailand. As we have been traveling almost 4 months, it was a bit above our budget, but worth every penny and I recommend the splurge. The grounds are serene and magical- We saw "sunglass" monkeys, exotic birds, a molator lizard and various other wildlife just walking to and from our home. The houses were immaculate and airy, each with their own charm, and you fell asleep listening to crickets and waves crashing. And I can't forget LAN, the awesome bartender at the guest only clubhouse bar (which served a 2 hr happy hr each day looking out on the sunset). Not only were his cocktails the best in Thailand, they were some of the best we've ever had- and that's saying a lot coming from San Fran. A few nights we even snuck out to the mostly abandoned beach and swam under the stars and karsts with bioluminescent plankton. A little slice of heaven. If I ever come back to Thailand, it would be to visit the Railei Beach Club. A truly special place.

My sister and I stayed in one of the Clubhouse rooms. Literally steps from the beach. You can hear the waves crashing from the clubhouse. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, surrounding by the limestone cliffs. So fun seeing the monkeys swing from tree to tree! We didn't want to leave... this place is seriously heaven on earth.

We arrived to Railay via ferry from Koh Phi Phi around 5 pm. We transferred from the ferry to a long boat, which took us as far to the shore as possible, but given it was low tide, we still had a bit of a distance to walk in the muddy sand once we got off the long boat. It was interesting with our luggage but no big deal. A staff member from RBC was waiting for us to help take us and our luggage to RBC. We traveled during the rainy season so it was a muddy walk but again, no big deal! Upon arrival, the room was beautifully arranged with orchid flowers on the bed and other various locations throughout the room. Everyone was so friendly and helpful during our stay, helping us arrange transportation back to Krabi Airport at the end of our trip, which was also flawless (long boat to Krabi, then van to the airport for about 1300 Baht total).

If you walk down the beach, you'll find some nice resort restaurants. However, I recommend walking to the other side of the peninsula where you'll find much cheaper, local restaurants and bars.

You can't go wrong staying at Railei Beach Club!!

Room Tip: The clubhouse rooms are an excellent value if there are just two people traveling together. They don...

We were 2 couples travelling together so we booked house no.13 from their website. a few days before we arrive we received an email from Carolyn (which was great) saying that this house was under minor constructions and they wont be able to finish on time so they upgraded us instead to the top floor of house no.29- This house was amazing and huge!! we had 2 bedrooms and 2 separate showers,a joining kitchen and living room and a huge deck only 50 meters from the beach. we loved this place so much that we didn't want to leave, we wish we had booked this place for a longer time..in my opinion a week here is perfect.
We also pre-booked the transfer to RBC from Krabi airport- i strongly recommend you to do that.
This place feels like home away from home, we also meet Sarah the owner of the original house that we booked ( house no.13) and she was kind to show us around her beautiful house and told us the story of this exceptional place.
If you are going to Railay i think that low season is the best because the beach is not packed with people. Also, each house here is very unique. we just fell in love with this place and the friendly staff.
If you book a house here i think that the houses closer to the cliff side are the best. we also booked a private massage- Highly recommended, ask for EL she is great!!!!
For food we found the Mangrove restaurant be the best so we ate most of the time there. we even order food to take out so we enjoyed dinner in our own private deck back at the house.
This place is just amazing - all the other places don't compare to RBC.

Room Tip: All houses are AMAZING but the houses closer to the cliff have even more privacy

The hubby and I have just got back from spending 4 nights at RBC in the monkey house 14GW- around 100m from the beach and the best view we had our entire time in Thailand.
The house itself delivered in every aspect, obviously reduced prices during the low season but every penny we spent was done so perfectly. Everything we needed was already in the house, including a small fridge, glasses , kettle etc - but also a DVD player, DVDs and quite a few books. because there was no air conditioning the ceiling fan and the mossie net was just perfect.
Even better was the outside seating/balcony area.... Hours of comfortable relaxing or watching for monkeys with a rum and coke!!!
While we're there we did get about 20 hours of torrential rain but it didn't stop us having a good time and was quite therapeutic listening to it as we were going to bed ( have to say that even though the house had umbrellas when it's wet it gets very muddy so going between west and east is a little messy. Also remember your deet!!!
We will never forget our stay at RBC, we only heard the sounds of the ocean rather than the longboats during our stay and everything was fantastic, including Carolyn who sorts everything out - including our transfer from Phuket. Can't Thank you enough!
If anyone has any questions ... Ask away!
Caroline

Room Tip: Monkey house was great!!!
