“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

Really enjoyed my stay here. Everything is on the beach here so great location. Hotel was very clean and rooms were very large and spotless. The restaurant was good and breakfast buffet was great. Pool area was great with a couple of spas and a pool bar.

We stayed at Bhu Nga Thani in 2013 and enjoyed it very much. This is why we stayed there again in August 2014. The staff is extremely helpful and charming. The service is good at the restaurant too. Food was good last year. I think it even improved since then. The breakfast is good, but not extraordinary. Why do they serve an industrial orange juice instead of a natural one? The room (de luxe grand double room) was the same whe had last year: large, convenient and clean. Some little details would deserve some maintenance. The bath tub is so huge that it takes more than twenty minutes to fill it! Considering the price we paid for four nights (approximately 310 euros) it is really a good deal! One piece of advice: as the hotel is on the mangrove side (it takes only five minutes to walk to the railey beach), request the transfer from the airport. They will organise a car picking you up at the airport, droping you at the pier. There, a tuk tuk will drive you to the end or the pier where a boat will be waiting for you. This transfer costs 2400 bahts (return) , which seems expensive, but makes everything very smooth. Internet is free.

We only came to eat. Had to wait along time for our food. 4 tables around us all had something wrong with their dishes by the sounds of things. Our waitor forgot the fries with my dish. The sauce that came with the barracuda was....interesting. Our least enjoyable dinner in Thailand so far. Staff let the restaurant down.

The only downside to booking this hotel was not having enough time in it! I booked this hotel as a stop over between Phiphi and krabi airport and we had to leave by 7am after checking in at 6pm the day before! We had no time to check out the pool which looked lovely. The room was spacious with a huge bath and separate shower area.
I did fill the bath only to notice the water was green/orange so I didn't bathe in it.
The only thing that bothered me in the room was the amount of small insects/bugs around the light sockets and on the lamps, but we were on a Thai island!
The room had everything you need tv toiletries hairdryer.
Railey bay itself is truly stunning.
The hotel is on the other side and takes around 10mins to walk to where the restaurants and nightlife is. The hotel faces more of a swamp which is where you are first introduced to when entering Railey bay.
Lots of great restaurants run along the front.
One massive downside for ending the trip was having to walk INTO the sea to get to the boat which took us to krabi. This was through the swamp unable to see under our feet with stones and fish for a good 15 mins all whilst holding onto our bags and suitcase! Then having to jump into a boat in the sea. Not a great ending.

Stayed here for 5 nights in the low season and had a grt stay. Fantastic size room with big bathroom and comfy bed. A/c a bit noisy and wifi in room cuts out briefly at times, but not really bad enough to complain about. Good breakfast options and food in restaurant of a very good quality - also has nice smoothies... Would stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a nice resort on Railay.

Wow! Was first impression. From flying into krabi and travelling to the hotel. Thanks to my friend who had even there before and knew to book the travel package from air port to hotel. It cost a little but worth it. We were picked up by taxi and taken to the dock.a motorcycle takes you down the dock, where you meet a boot when you get to railay bay a tractor and trailer meets you and takes you to shore. A guy meet us and carried our luggage to the hotel. Hotel staff was very nice. The rooms were super clean, the beds sooooo comfortable.
In the morning, had an excellent buffet breakfast. So many choices including an omelette station!
The front desk staff helped us book a boat and snorkelling trip for our second day. We were picked up at our hotel and walked us to our boot and helped us get on.
I felt very well taken care of the whole trip.
You can rent movies.
The pool was nice and relaxing, bar staff nice. Everything was charged to the room and payed at the end!
The beach is a nice 10 minute walk to the otherside of railay. Saw monkeys...beware of your belongings.
Love love love...recommend to anybody....

Positives:
- The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and well maintained.
- The pool is very nice and relaxing and the staff in the pool bar were very nice and friendly.
- The room was spacious with a lovely sea view.
- Pre-arranged transportation from Krabi airport was spotless and easy even though we had to change from car to tuk-tuk to boat ... the staff were helpful and friendly and it was a fun and unique way to get to the hotel.

Negatives:
- The staff in the restaurant and reception. They couldn't care less about you or what you need, specially the staff on the night, we had dinner in the restaurant and it was only 10:30 and they just started to push us to finish and go, the food was ok nothing amazing.
- The location is not great, the beach in front is grey and is more like a mangrove swamp with very little to do. You can walk 15 mins to the west beach and it's nicer but it was too full of noisy tourists ... so if you are hoping for a paradise beach ... it is definitely not the right place
- The rooms could do with a bit of painting as in some parts of the ceiling and walls there were marks of damp.
