“Spacious, new, very comfy beds, friendly staff and great location. A gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2011

Had a great 3 night stay at this resort.

Room -We stayed in a grand deluxe on the ground floor (very spacious) and it comes with an extremely comfortable bed, an indoor and outdoor day bed, a indoor spa tub which is almost like a mini private pool, and all the modern creature comforts you would want. Loved it.

Service- very polite and friendly staff. Our in room safe wasn't working and they very quickly replaced one for us. The only small snag is not all staff speak good English but their great service attitude more than made-up for it.

Location- it depends on what you are looking for. The location is great if you are looking a beach vacation that is away from the busy ao nang area. It has a mangrove view, and within a 5-10min walk to 2 of the best beaches in Krabi, namely Railey west and Phra nang cave beach. In fact so many would travel from aonang to visit these beaches! It was great to have them so easily accessible from our resort. However, it is challenging to get to ao nang and krabi city as the only way out is by boat. Each time you go out you will have to pay for the boat trips. We also found it hard to return back at night after visiting the night market at krabi city as the boatmen would quote the price of a full boat 1500baht to bring you back. In the end we took a songthaew (public mini bus) fr krabi city and then a ponytail from ao nang Mao pier to get home. That worked out to be 180 bhat per head instead.

Overall we loved it and would want to return again. Highly recommended!

Where do I start? We were at this hotel for 5 nights and are still amazed at how good it was.
Bhu Nga Thani is located on the eastern Railay beach. The eastern beach mostly serves the long-tail boats and is not for swimming or relaxing. However, Railay is so tiny that it’s a short and pleasant walk from the hotel to the better beaches. There are many nice restaurants and bars near the hotel (walk out of the hotel and go left).
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the supervisor, who sat down with us and talked to us about the place, marking the interesting things on map and detailing the hotel’s facilities and everything. The room was just great. Spacious, clean, bright, and with everything you could need. Apart from the standard things, it had a huge, custom-built bathtub, perfect for a romantic evening dip. Rooms on the second and third floors have balconies instead. The hotel has a nice spa, which we used for the complimentary 15-minute treatment we received. Other facilities include a small gym and a room with 3 computers for internet access. There’s also a complimentary DVD rental service with hundreds of awesome movies and TV series.
The best thing about the hotel is the service. The whole staff (especially the supervisor, T-Pop) was simply genuinely nice and more than willing to help with anything. We had a couple of special needs during our stay, and the staff went out of their way to help us with everything. We had two tiny problems with the room, and they were dealt with instantly. One time, we had a little problem with the bathtub and called the reception at 9 PM to tell them about it. After calling them, I jokingly said, “if it takes them more than 2 minutes to come, their rating drops to 4/5”. A maintenance man knocked on our door less than a minute afterwards. Overall, the service was above and beyond expectations.

Really, this is 4.5 stars because of an issue they had with the Internet (detailed below). Everything else was fantastic. The rooms were clean and modern, utilizing the natural light well. The reading nook in our deluxe room with a view of the mountains and sea was a great touch, and quickly became my favorite spot on the island. I'd definitely recommend getting a third floor room to maximize the view. We had 306, but it looked like 312 had the best view.

The grounds are nice, the pool area relaxing if a bit small. The location can't be beat for Railey unless you stay at the Rayavalee at five times the price. It's a short walk to three beaches (East, West, and the best one whose name escapes me), and your view of the east beach and proximity to the bars and restaurants on that side is just great. The restaurant is delicious if a bit overpriced for the area. The cocktails were weak. The free fifteen minute spa treatment (during low season) was a definite highlight - leagues better than the poke-in-the-dark massages you'll get all throughout Thailand for 200 baht.

The staff was lovely and quite helpful, even when they couldn't fix the Internet problem they were having. Apparently the satellite was having issues. The Internet worked perfectly when we first arrived, then started only loading certain pages at certain times. We would have stayed there for another few days had they been able to fix the problem, but alas they were not and I needed to be online for business reasons.

All in all, we would definitely recommend this place and stay there again given the chance. Fix the Internet, and it's five full stars for sure.

Room Tip: Get a third floor deluxe room - great views, well-designed spaces. 312 looked to have the best view...

We stayed in Bhu Nga recently and found the hotel to be faboulous. Firstly, the location is excellent. Some websites will say to stay on the other beaches on the island but in our view it is more relaxing to stay on this side of the island - its 2 mins walk to both beaches and the hotel is right next to the cool bars and restaurants. Its also next to where the ferrys arrive which is handy (we landed in phuket and got the hotel to pick us up - i'd recommend this - it was like €35euro each but that included taxi and boat and it was nice to be collected at the airport rather than haggle with boat taxis!). The hotel's staff were fantastic and were so helpful and friendly. The facilities were great (pool and poolside bar are amazing) and the spa was so relaxing. The hotel also had internet and a massive dvd collection. Great start to our Thai holiday and recommend it!

We had checked in two rooms at the railay bay resort and spa (awful) but after stumbling across this little gem of a hotel we moved. We are ever so grateful to Mr. T Pop for letting us look at the pool after which we decided to move. The pool is quiet and clean. The staff are very friendly , speak good English and will bend over backwards to accommodate your needs ( after we had climbed the mountain at tiger cave temple we were exhausted and the pool bar had shut for the night.. no problem.. cocktails were brought to the pool for us). Our rooms were lovely, clean and looked new. Best bed I slept on in Thailand. The outside shower was a bonus as was the huge square bath. A lovely balcony outside. Although this hotel is not on the main beach side this is NOT at all a disadvantage. The path to get to the best beach on Railay - Phra Nang is on THIS side. Railay West beach is only a 5 min walk.. There are also many local restaurants around the hotel but we found the restaurant at the hotel to be reasonable. In fact its the only hotel restaurant we ate at usually we eat locally.

The Hotel has just opened when we came and there was a discount (the hotel was empty at that time) so we choose this place and didn't regret it at all.
Everything was there to spend a great time:

- Nice rooms with amenities
- Great spa and restaurant
- Lovely swimming pool
- Great service
- Nice location, less crowded than the other side

It was difficult getting to Railay Beach - Krabi, but well worth it! This may be one of the most beautiful spots in the world. The hotel is very nice. We stayed in a pool villa which was spectacular. Our kids (college students) stayed in a regular hotel room which was also very nice and had a view of the sea. Both rooms were beautifully decorated and had the best showers one can imagine. There are two beaches - this hotel is on the less beautiful beach, however, only a three to five minute walk away from the spectacular beach (see photos) and about one-third the price of the hotels on the other side. Make sure you arrange transportation to the hotel through the hotel (they will arrange from Krabi, Phukett, and Ko Phi Phi) because it's quite an adventure. There was something at Railay Beach for everyone in the family - adventure, relaxation, beautiful scenery, great restaurants, and night life.
