Description: Whether you're in Ceres for the cherries at Klondyke, the snow on Matroosberg or in the Koue Bokkeveld, the big-sky beauty of the Tankwa Karoo National Park and the Cederberg or a thrill-seeking day with Ceres Zipslide Adventures, make sure you stop over at Die Tolhuis Restaurant, without doubt the coziest restaurant with the best mountain views in the Ceres area. And if, like welcoming owners Reint and & Karien Grobler, you swear by the wise words of Mahatma Ghandi, "there is more to life than increasing its speed," you can prepare yourself for a mouthwatering 'kuier' that will keep you coming back for more.

“Lekker farm food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We could not stay long but their food was really good, portions was big enough to even share. Service friendly and efficient. Not that expensive and the atmosphere made it a great place to chill for a while. Baboons toy-toying outside lend a nice charm to the Tolhuis. Ab

“Excellent location, good service average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

A great place to stop just outside ceres and probably nicer than anywhere within ceres itself. The food was nothing to write about, slightly varied menu so not all burgers and chips, the service was decent but the location lovely. If in that part of the world again and it was a nice day we may stop by again. R220 for 2 people lunch with a hot drink each.

“A Pleasant Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

My wife and I stopped off here on Saturday past and were very impressed with the place. Not bad pricing and very, very nice coffee! A small selection on the menu, but enough to to suit our tastes. We shared a meal and the portion was large. Enough for both of us. Most enjoyable, and a pleasant surprise to not be ripped off, as is the usual with the places in the Western Cape. Great stuff.

“Great stop off for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

A delightful little Bistro, about 5 km from Ceres at Michells Pass. An oasis for travellers needing a break for an hour or so. A few tables outside in the shade. A large fireplace inside for cold days.

Simple home made fare - a few salads, burgers and local sausage dishes. Try their home made lemonade. Attentive service, and above all, very good value.

“Just lovely!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

A very small bistro, but just lovely, about 5 tables inside and 5 in the garden.
I love this typical South African vintage style: red/white checked table linnen, home made lemonade and a small menu. But everything fresh and prepared with love. As you can see and taste. It is just sweet!!!
