“Nice feel to the place - lots of local produce”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2014 via mobile

We pass by this place whenever we go to Tenterden and it looks appealing as it is decorated in very chic colours and looks well maintained. We had even popped in for a drink before and vowed to return for the food. We booked for Saturday lunch the day before, as we couldn't get in for dinner, apart from the ad hoc seating in the bar which is on a first come first served basis. We liked the decor and feel of the place. They appear to try and source as much as they can locally and even had a Chapel Down dessert wine available. There were only a couple of things on the menu that appealed to me, so I opted for the burger which was really filling. My wife went for a crab and crayfish starter only and was asked if she wanted a bigger portion, she said yes. When it came it still seemed like a small serving, but she really enjoyed it. After we left we noticed that we had been charged £17 for this and felt this was too much for its size and wondered if she actually got anything larger than the standard starter size. As she was still hungry she ordered the gooseberry fool dessert, which was lovely, pretty large and good value at £6. We had also ordered a glass of wine and coffees each. All in all it felt like good value, even with the mix up with the starter.

“Good Food”

Excellent food and very polite and helpful staff. Can get very busy which can cause long delays. We waited a hour for pizzas, but they were delicious.

“FRIENDLY PLACE NICE FOOD COSY ATMOSHPHERE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2014

WENT FOR A SATURDAY EVE DINNER lovely with the fella and Ma in law and great time. Food great staff helpful and even though it was packed managed to get us a table for three. We went back for the MILKFEST on the Sunday afternoon and sat in the lovely garden drinking cider. As a Londoner it was a welcome break and made me feel that country life is quite exciting after all. Remember to book a cab early, its not London, they take an hour!

“Lovely atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

Visited several times on hot days over the summer and sat in the attractive terrace area eating from the 'grazing menu'. The food is excellent and good value to share with friends, and the staff are all enthusiastic and friendly (even if sometimes a bit slow). The terrace and garden are usually busy and the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. Our last visit was for the Cider Festival as apart of the Bank Holiday Milk Fest which was a great event - interesting local ciders, live music and a lovely family atmosphere with children and dogs. The service can be a bit slow and disorganised but the young staff team are all helpful and seem very committed to making the venue a success. One of my favourite places to relax and hang out - and I recommend the squid from the grazing menu..
