“Supurb food, beautiful setting ..... definitely FRESH!”
We were invited to this special restaurant by artist friends who have their work in the art gallery next door (also worth visiting). The emphasis is on what is fresh and available in Joan Lancefield's garden on the day. It was a chilly, rainy day and we were welcomed into a warm, simple space with a lovely fire burning. 3 of us had the tomato soup (wonderful subtle touch of basil coming through) while I had asparagus (with the most beautiful lemon, butter and creme fraishe sauce). For mains 2 had salmon, 1 kingklip, 1 chicken curry. All were superb. Not sure how we managed it but we all had puddings to die for ....... chocolate brownie in a cup, strawberry pavlova and Joan's version of Lemon Meringue. We washed this all down with a couple of bottles of icy cold Paul Cluver Savignon Blanc .... what a feast! One of my best meals ever. Flavors were full and robust, and the portions perfect .... not huge and off putting. What an outstanding experience and I have no problems recommending it. Be sure to book though.
