We detour to Sungkai from our way back from Penang, as we heard that there is this restaurant there which is very famous for its braised pork knuckle. Once entered into Sungkai toll, this restaurant is very easy to locate. Just turn right after the toll and keep going straight for about 1.5km and it's on your left.
The moved to a new area and the shop is fully equipped with air cond, for people like my mum that is very afraid of the hot weather in Malaysia, you could definitely enjoy your dinner without caring much about the heat.
They are famous for their braised pork and also river-food. Braised pork is finger licking good, the meat are cooked till very tender and the skins melts in your mouth. River fish and prawns served by them are very fresh and at a very reasonable price.
Waitress and waiters are very attentive, and very polite. But the food serving time is a bit long, as I think they cook the food table by table. So you just have to be patient when you come here.
This place is definitely worth a detour either from or to North Malaysia from the South.
