“Can recommend it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

Here's what ticks my box:
Great location right on the beach
The beach is kept clean by Sheraton paying locals to keep it that way.
The beach is controlled by Sheraton to stop hawkers . . Makes a big difference.
Hear people talking about rooms and breakfast . . . I thought they were both great.
All staff helpful and friendly.
Place controlled for mozzies.
Free wifi
This is my first few days and another week and a bit to go . . Very impressed so far.

My friends and I just returned from climbing Mt Ranjani and we stayed at Sheraton Senggigi. The staff were very friendly which made the stay very pleasant. Food was good and value for money. The rooms were clean and well maintained however the room deco is getting tired and old. During our stay, I find that the staff though very friendly and very helpful but were not able to cope with their work when the hotel was full, on our return stay after the climb, the hotel porters had misplaced some our luggages and there was no porters to help with our bags when we checked in. At check out, the front office staff looked stressed as they were not sure of the extra bills and looked stressed out. The hotel does need improvements in this area and their gym equipment looks tired and wornout as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor

Sheraton is a very well run hotel. On the beach, great sea views from most of the rooms.
it is a big hotel so if you are after more romantic holiday maybe you have to consider some of the more boutique stay hotels.
We had the grand suite, big, great views, well serviced.
The room service prices are very resonable.
The pool is big and during our stay the resort was full but never crowded.
The breakfast is ok maybe more fresh food and food choices, the egg station guy was very good.
It is very good value booked on Hotelclub.
Close to the main tourist area if you want to eat out.

On the edge of Senggigi is a little oasis. Senggigi isn't anything special, a busy road dotted with beach hotels, a few resorts, and countless eateries. All of which are average. At the Sheraton, its quiet and calm. The pool is large with amazing stone facades. The service is great. Everyone is super friendly which can be said of most Indonesians as well.

As per the type of property, the food and drinks are overpriced. Unfortunately, the food we had wasn't impressive at all, at best average. The portions rather small, the cocktails sound amazing, but turn out rather weak or inaccurate. The bar isn't fully stocked, despite a stocked menu. Pours of spirits are small. Breakfast buffet was the only decent meal we had, but perhaps it "free" for us (normally $15++ USD) made it better. Omelet station was the favorite.

The twin bed rooms really are more twin/double sized than full, tough for two adults sharing, kids no problem. Just average. The suite rooms have a more accommodating king bed, larger bath and shower, much higher quality and recommended.

The Spa was small, but excellent. We tried a few in town ($8/hour), but preferred paying the higher resort prices (starting at $25/hour) for the more luxury feeling, service, setting. Schedule at least one visit, maybe more depending on your budget.

While on the edge of Senggigi, its close enough to walk anywhere in the small town. Proximity to other bars/markets/restaurants in town and free pickups/dropoffs resolved our hunger. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Sheraton. This is a lovely hotel with fantastic friendly staff and a lovely, reasonably priced spa.

We had booked a superior poolside room, but when we arrived (following an 18 hour journey from Heathrow) we were shown a bog standard double - with a view of the pool only possible with a periscope. Hence the reason for upgrading to a suite - which was lovely. The suite was nice - a bit 1990's business traveller-esque for a holiday but it was clean, had a comfortable bed and a very good roomboy.

The hotel itself is nice enough albeit a bit jaded and scruffy in parts. But it is clean and has the most beautifully landscaped gardens and a fantastic pool. As we were there in June there was no problem getting sun-beds but I think that it may be a problem later in the season if they don't have any others.

The spa is lovely with great staff and it is extremely good value for money. But it is located too close to the bar - so don't have any treatments in the evening as you will be listening to the bar music and won't be able to relax properly.

The breakfast buffet was very good and the food in the other restaurant and bar was ok - but very expensive for what it was. The menu are the same for all restaurants and bar so there is no choice apart from the 'themed' evenings which take place every night and cost between 20 and 25000 for food.

Turn left out of the hotel onto the beach and there are a few restaurant/bars that serve the same food for far less. The drinks are also much cheaper there. if you want coke or soft drinks for the room then there is a small supermarket in Senggigi (five minutes down the hill that charges around a quarter of the mini bar costs. The hotel does have Happy Hours - which you need when a glass of wine or beer costs the equivalent of over £10. The bar was never busy when we were there - which is hardly surprising given the cost of a drink. I know that this hotel is part of a chain but I think that they would get far more people eating and drinking there (and therefore more profit) if the prices were slightly less.

Senggigi itself is just a street of bars, restaurants and cheap souvenir shops so don't expect too much. There are loads of hawkers - but they are the most polite hawkers that I have ever encountered and they go away when you say no! The beach is public but the hawkers are not allowed onto the beach directly in front of the hotel so you are very rarely hassled there during the day. In the afternoon locals come onto the beach to fish and this is very interesting to watch - but you wont be able to swim while they are there (don't get annoyed as these people are very poor - and it isn't your beach!).

There are many fishing boats on the beach that will take you over to Trawangen and the other Gillis (islands). It is a great adventure but be careful as the wind whips up in the afternoon and the journey back is a bit of a nightmare as the waves are high and the wind is very strong. The islands are full of backpackers and so are very cheap (get your cheap tee shirts here) but some of the coral has been totally wrecked from the amount of people snokelling and walking on it (however, saying that, we saw a turtle on our first snorkel - something that took us two visits to the Maldives to do!). There are other Gillis, South of Mataram, which are virtually untouched and, although the coral is not as varied there, there are loads of fish and the beaches are beautiful - and deserted.

If you can take a journey down to Kuta in the South of the island. It is a beautiful scenic journey - and at the end you should go to the Novotel Hotel - it looks like Fred and Wilma live there! The hotel beach is a crescent of white sand with fantastic swimming and snorkelling. The beaches around Kuta are gorgeous. You can swim, snorkel and surf in relative peace and quiet. We're going there next time - even though it is very remote.

The hotel excursions are pretty good value - ask for Harry the driver. He is really lovely and very knowledgeable about his island. We couldn't recommend him highly enough.

As it is a bit of a drag to get to Lombok there are very few Brits on holiday here. So prepare for people to assume that you are Australian (they are only six hours away). Even on the last day the men at the check out told us to come back soon as we only lived a few hours away in Oz!

And, finally, I agree with the previous comments about the internet access. We were able to access the bar wi-fi system from our suite as we were directly alongside it but I think that it is extremely mean to make people pay for this service - most other hotels that we have stayed in offer it as a standard.

If you want to know anything else feel free to message me.

Room Tip: next time I'd ring them first!

We Have nothing to say on the hotel, we slept like babies on the confy beds. The food is ordinary as you should expect from a big hotel. We booked this via our SPG POINTS. the problem Is the location, the city itself. I would Not recommend to anyone to stay In Senggigi, there is nothing to be done there...Sorry!

Had a pleasant time in Sheraton. Staff friendly and helpful in all areas.

Rooms are nice and well furnished, bathroom with bathtub would have been nice though. Breakfast and rest of the food was ok, but don't go there is you expect culinary highlights. Internet would have been great if available in the restaurants/bars too. sitting in the lobby with laptop is not exciting.

All in all a good and properly the best hotel to stay in that area and price category.

Dear dubai_UAE_traveller,

We were happy to learn that you have an enjoyable stay and that we contributed, in some small way, to making your experience at Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort a pleasant and memorable one.
I am so glad that you enjoyed our well furnished room and the most important thing is that you also mentioned about our staff friendliness which many of our guest noticed as well. I was so happy to mention your appreciation to all the team yesterday and I saw such a big smile on everybody’s faces…. :)

We also appreciate your constructive feedback regarding having internet at our Sunset Bar and Restaurant and we are pleased to inform you that the internet is now available at our Sunset Bar. This is well appreciated by our guest as they can enjoy a great ocean view with a laptop connected to the World. We are now working on having the same internet facilities at our Poolside Restaurant which will be completed very soon

It was a great pleasure to have you as our guest and I do hope that we have the opportunity again to welcome you back to our resort in the near future

With best regards,
