Hotel Katxi is really lovely , and a good place to stay if visiting Bilbao.We stayed there for one night last summer , after a day in Bilbao.Unfortunately the restaurant was shut the night we were there, and we had not received the email telling us this before we left home some days previously.In such cases it is probably best to eat in Bilbao first! Miriam the owner is charming and very hospitable. The hotel itself is in the village of Morga , about half an hour from Bilbao, but another world - very Spanish and no tourists! Miriam was so upset that we didnt know about the restaurant being closed that she upgraded our room.It was huge ,beautiful , with Moorish furnishings and a gauze curtain dividing the bed area from the rest of the room. The ensuite bathroom was as well appointed with robes, towels and classy toiletries as any 5 star establishment.I had the best nights sleep in ages ! Breakfast the next day was in an adjoining bar, again very Spanish. The Basque country is wonderful, and we would have loved to explore it further.If we ever do , we know where we will be staying !
