Words can not accurately describe our 1 night at the Inkunzi Cave and Zulu Hut. Before reviewing, I must state that we only stayed 1 night because that was all there was available and we booked in July! So next time we will book at least a YEAR in advance!fashio
As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Steve Bull; the famous South African artist and his wife Estelle. We were given the dime tour of the accomodation; and it's clear to see why Steve is so successful. We stayed in the Cave, which has been fashioned as such and is like living in a luxury cave. The attention to detail is mind-blowing, Steve must have spent an enormous amount of time fashioning the Cave, the bath-tub is an enormous concrete affair, and there are also artistic paintings of the ancient San people throughout the entire Cave, some in the like of the ancient bush paintings and some depictions of the culture.
The swimming pool was enormous, again fashioned by Steve, and was almost too big for us. The waterfall was an excellent add-on and if you wind up through the gardens you'll see just how many water features there are in this amazing place.
The surrounding views are stunning, with the hotel perfectly placed in the Champagne Valley. There's nothing more special than sitting in the pool watching the sun disappear behind the beautiful Cathkin Peak.
We came as guest and left as friends in only 1 night, the accommodation is INCREDIBLY well-priced for the area, it was one of the cheapest accommodation we had during our entire stay in South Africa, and easily the best we have ever experienced.
Our next trip to the Drakens will see us stay in the Inkunzi Cave again for at least a week, but hopefully a lifetime!
