“A haven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

Located next to the lake, the rooms are in small two storied blocks with all rooms having a lake view. The room are fine. The restaurant is in two parts, one open with a thatched roof, the other air-conditioned, inside and a bit bleak. We found the food was good and particularly recommend the lake fish grilled with garlic. Good breakfast, one day a buffet, the other waiter service.
The pool area looked very nice, but it rained while we were there and didn't use it.
Only negatives. They charge $10/day for internet and $1 per small bottle of water, the only hotel on our tour to do so.

as we were traveling with a group, the remoteness of the hotel was not a problem. on the contrary, it is a pleasant, peaceful and relaxing place to stay. by the lake, with nice views.

the rooms are a bit small, but reasonable clean and comfortable. they either have a balcony with a view to the lake or, for the ground floor, access to a lawn/garden.

the restaurant is either indoor or outdoor (were the view can be enjoyed). service is extremely attentive. food was good.

bad points: there is no gym. internet is not free and does not work in the rooms.

Nice place and service!!!
You can relax and enjoy of all the ammenities of the hotel.
Quite difficult to get transportation from there to any other place. Need your own vehicule, taxi's are pretty expensive.

The rooms in the hotel were ok, the air conditioner was too loud. The jacuzzi was outrageously small. It was frustrating that they dont have a fitness center. The service at meals wasn't great, and the food was not good. We ate at the hotel twice and just couldn't eat there another night so we went out. The buffet was really unappetizing and there were almost no good choices on the menu. The breakfast was decent, however. This hotel is also really far away from Tikal or Ceibal. We should have stayed somewhere closer to the sites. We stayed here because we thought it would be a nice hotel but it isn't worth the hours of extra driving it requires to get to the sites.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor seemed to be a little quieter.

We paid 150 USD for a room for three. This hotel has little soul and from the minute you arrive you know you are there to pay.

It is 45 minutes from Flores and 4 kms from nearest village, El Remate, so if you are without a car you are fully at the mercy of the hotel. ( bus 3 times a day)

There is no free internet. 10 USD per terminal for stay. When we asked in the lobby how we could get to the village 4 kms away we were told it would be 100 USD for 6!!

When you want to brush you teeth the small bottle of water costs 1 USD. It may not be much but it explains the philosophy as all prices are grossly inflated and often above 5 star hotels in Antigua or Guatemala, and this is not a 5 star hotel.

We had the misfortune to have a ground floor room which was very damp and dark. Avoid those and request top floor rooms. We left a day early.

On the good side there is a nice pool and the lakeshore is beautiful. I would avoid in future.

The hotel is very well located if you are planning to visit tikal. The accomodations felt a little old; the gardening is very nice. And the buffe for breakfast is very delicious.

Hoping to stay there again, haaaa don't forget to take the kayak and go explore the espectacular lake!!

Just stayed and whilst the location is nice (on the lake), it is about half way between Tikal and Flores. Thank god they have an airport transfer to and from. The rooms are large and comfortable, but haven't been upgraded for a while. The hotel was helpful in organising a tour of Tikal, I would say the staff are very friendly.
