“Chandipur _ weekend trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

On 29th March 2013 , 6 members of our family planned a week end trip to Chandipur Balasore. We travelled by own vehicle from Kolkata . Road condition , Approx 25% to 30% of total travelled distance ( 260Km) , is very poor. Balance are Ok. It took approx 5 hrs travel time( One Way) + break. ITDC Panthanivas was booked online. AC suit rooms are sea facing. one may opt for other rooms also. Location of Panthanivas is excellent. All other hotels are away from beach. Most of the times sea water is far away. It is a mixed feeling. some time we felt bored and some times we felt charged. Periodical appearance and disappearnace of water is an unique experience. Beach is very safe for every age of travellers.

There is no separate acess to beach for Local people and travellers staying in other hotels. It makes over crowded in evening.

Room rent is inclusive of breakfast. Only choice is Puri Sabji or bread omlet. Inadequate staff and not well trained for a hotel like OTDC. Food is little over charged for quality of food. it is a total chaotic situation during break fast at morning hours. Though Room service is not available, they served it at room for my 74 yr old mother.

On second day , we found one small resaturant named " SANJU". located on beach. Superb Bengali dish of your choice. Prawn/Crab/Hilsa/chiken. We took lunch. We also took dinner in open sky . Beach was completly Dark and silent. Hotel may be really small in size by taste is far better or comparable with any reputed restaurant.

On third day we started early in the morning and visited Panchalingeswar Mandir. Nice place to visit. Approx 50 KM from Chandipur towards Bhubaneswar. After Puja and break fast at OTDC returned Kolkata.

Overall it is a good family trip.

“Excellent Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Its 15 km from Balasore City....and the place is very amazing....it is one of its unique kind among all beaches in Asia because of the outgoing and incoming of water in the beach which happens every 8 hrs....The Place is quite...Vey limited kind of food and accomodation available .... but you can stay in panthanivas, aproperty owned by OTDC, which is very near to the sea shore....

“It is one of the unique beach in the world where the sea recedes for 5 km and comes back during high tide.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

No official informations of Time range of high tide and low tide . If it is available either in the internet (like weather forecast) or in the beach, more visitors can enjoy the recede and precede of the sea .

“Rejuvinate yourself at Chandipur”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Visited Chandipur on 2nd Feb 2013. We had our office picnic at Chandipur. We stayed at Torrento Resorts (9937013157 Gopal Khandelwal). The resort has a decent lawn where you can have a bonfire in the evening. They served us Bali Prawns and Chicken Tandoor as starters. You can order decent Indian, Chineese or Tandoori cuisine. All rooms have their own Balcony and though you cannot see the sea - you can feast your eyes on Cashew Trees and lots of greenery from the huge glass window panes. The resort has a generator and solar powerd running hot water supply.

The Beach is different - it is hard and you can walk several kilometers to reach the bar on whose other side you can see the sea. It is only during the high tide that the sea water crosses the bar and that is twice a day. It is one of Nature's whims and for the first time traveller - this might be interesting.

Chandipur is not like most of the beaches - it is calm, quiet and serene. If you are looking for some space - Chandipur is an ideal getaway.

Easily accessible from Balasore - it is a value for money trip.

“BreathTaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

We visited the beach @ 5.30 am and there was no water in sight. We walked barefooted into the beach for almost 3 kms before we found the first sight of water coming back to shore. The water comes back to full flow around 10 am and stays till 1 pm. This is the best time to walk in the knee deep water as long as u wish. There will be an inherent fear, as when you see forward it will give an illusion that the water level is rising. However it remains same till atleast 5 kms. There are fishing nets which can act as checkpoint in case you are not sure how far you want to go.

Tips to Couples - Chandipur can be a thrilling surprise if your partner likes one. Don't tell him/her about this phenomena and also dont let him/her see the empty coast.
Best time to let your partner see the beach - @ 10 pm when the water is in full flow. Then go to the beach straight at 12-1 in the afternoon next day and start your journey and see how brave is your partner :)
