“Great Time, Great Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Just spent 7 great days at the St James Club in Antigua.
Room:
Was upgraded to the Royal Suites. What a beautiful spacious room and good service. The Staff are so friendly, they say hello everyday to you.

Food:
Piccalo Monda is the best. An extra $35 to go, but you can order all you want off the menu as many times as you want. Docksiders had some issues, the ran out of food early one day and their Italian Theme was horrible. It is a hit and miss. Rainbow Room was pretty good but they also have some food issues and the service is REALY SLOW.

Beaches:
Mamora Bay is the best. Drink buggy comes around, calm water and white sand. Atlantic Side was great but was always windy.

Adventures:
Dive Shop, Mamora Bay Divers, Christine was excellent. So helpful and patient. We went to the Pillars of Hercules and Nanton Point. Corals were so colourful and an abundance of fish galore.
Safari & Catamaran Tour: Half the island by Safari, other half by sea. Safari was great, through the rainforest and to the highest point where you could see everywhere, even our resort. Caught the catamaran in St. Johns and snorkelled on the Caribbean side. The coral there was dead not much to sea at all. Lunch on the boat and drinks. was great.
English Harbour for the day: $12.00 pp for a taxi from the resort and you have the taxi driver for the whole day. A must see. Ask the taxi driver to take you over to Roxies Bar, excellent food and company.

Nightlife: basically non existant except for Jacaranda's Bar, but it lacks ambience. needs a bit of help, may promote it more or something.

The trip was great, would go back in a heartbeat.

Just back from 1 week at St James Club in Antiguia.
It was just fantastic. Great hotel, Wonderfull staff, just could not fault anything the whole week.
Food was brilliant, choice of buffet or a la carte for every meal. Choice of resturants for the evening.
Two beaches to choose from, one has more breeze than the other which is neede on some of the very hot days.
Water sports centre is very well run too, the guys are really helpful and the lessons/ help they give is brilliant
Will be back next year

Room Tip: Choose a beach room just great views.they over look on Cocos beach

Just returned from spending 10 days at this lovely location. Very comfortable clean room in a lovely setting. Excellent food and plenty of activities and the majority of staff are your typical very friendly carribbean people, always smiling and willing to help (NOTE-The majority!) Planning to return next year :-)

Room Tip: Although a little more expensive the rooms on the South side are quieter.

Roaches in room, cold food, decor old and tired. Go somewhere else. There many other gorgeous areas in the island to stay at. This is not one of them and the price was ridiculous. I seriously feel like I was ripped off.

We stayed here for 10 days. The resort is ok but what really let it down for us was the kids club. We specifically booked this resort because of the kids club as we have two youngish kids who we thought would enjoy some activities. We were massively disappointed by the kids club here. The place was run by two surly and bored-looking ladies. Every time we went in they basically tried to ignore us until it was clear that we weren't going away. Even once we had registered and they knew the name of our kids they did not bother greeting us when we entered. Many of the 'activities' listed on the board outside or the schedule we received when we arrived did not happen and no alternative was offered. If you have kids you should really consider somewhere else.

Dear Valued Guests,

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay with us at the St. James's Club.

We receive many, many guests with families who look forward to their children spending time in our Kidz Club which was designed and staffed with our youngest guests in mind. The Kidz Club's experienced staff run a schedule of different activities throughout the day, with the schedule changing weekly. From art classes to nature trails and swimming activities, children of all ages are entertained. In addition there are seasonal themed programs for Halloween, Easter and Christmas. Parents are welcome to stay with their children and join in with the activities on offer. In addition, there is a special Kidz menu for lunch and dinner which can be chosen on a daily basis. The Kidz Club has a fenced in play area including a games area.

The Kidz Club is one of our most popular features for our families with children and is noted by guests in our online forums and guest surveys.

The St. James' Club is a wonderful family resort and we do hope when you are considering another Caribbean vacation that we may host you once again.

Some of the staff are extremely rude with a bad attitude especially at breakfast !! Rooms are tired and not clean , lied linen old and dated and I had dirty towels ! There is no internet in the rooms unless you pay a daily charge! Unacceptable and I would not book a holiday here .

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

Spent a week in late November at this wonderful vacation spot.
Facilities
Grounds are spotless and impressive. Located on a peninsula providing an open, more natural ocean beach with a refreshing breeze and small waves and also a more sheltered bay beach with volleyball, water sports (including free access to hobie cats) and a bar. There are an amazing number of nooks and crannies here and it's easy to find relatively secluded beach chairs with a view. The rooms are great, although we were at the top end Royal Suites. The Villas also looked nice. Housekeepers are quick, efficient and do a great job. Take cash as there is no ATM on property. Take the Sunday trip to Shirley Point. Worth the view and food.
Recreation
This is not a major party spot. Evening entertainment is limited. Even those nights with small bands end at 10pm. They do have a DJ at the kind of euro-trash central bar but it's not a great spot. Would have appreciated a later outdoor band or some other form of entertainment. Also a steel drum band at one of the beaches would be nice. The beaches are served refreshments by a guy in a gold cart. Sometimes he is there; sometimes not. Sometimes he is in a good mood, sometimes he is not. Spa facilities are nice and staff friendly. Massage and men's haircut were good. Manicure was not.
Food & Beverage
The restaurants are OK. Food is plentiful but no more than average. There is a higher end Italian restaurant ($35 per person upcharge) that is good. You can sign up for a 45 minute tour of the TimeShare facilities and get a voucher for 2 at this restaurant. Matt is the sales man and he is low pressure and informative. Worth a look. Drinks are only OK as well. There is no top shelf liquor on site and you cannot even pay more for it. The bartenders are an interesting group. They are not unfriendly, but they are also not engaged and interested. A little more effort on their part would go a long way.
Bottom line: This resort is fairly exclusive but not stuffy. There were quite a few Brits (previously owned by England) and Canadians (direct flights). In the end I really believe you get your money's worth here. I definitely would go again, but with so many all-inclusive choices in the Caribbean, I will try others for variety first.

Room Tip: Tough to go wrong. Beach views everywhere due to peninsula setting. Royal Suites are superb.
