“The best place to stay while visiting Germany or Switzerland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Belchen is a small village at the top of the mountain with a ski station. Great rooms, exceptional service, stunning view and a nice warm pool. Great breakfast and ask for a tomato soup and a Schwarzwalder Sauerkirschensteak at dinner.

We stayed in the Belchenhotel for two nights en route from Italy to UK. We had a really enjoyable couple of days and would be happy to return for a longer stay.

The room, food and approach of the staff was all very good. Some of the staff didn't speak very much English (which is a problem for me as my German is non-existent) but we managed to get by.

The only downside I can think of is that the hotel doesn't seem to have anywhere just to sit and have a drink (apart from the very nice terrace when the weather is okay) and by the time dinner was over (about 8:30) everyone seemed to have disappeared off to bed!

We had such a wonderful experience here it’s hard to know where to begin. We stayed here during a motorcycle trip through the black forest for three nights. We booked our first night through booking.com but then decided to add two more nights and contacted the hotel directly to see if that would be possible. They quickly got back to us with a friendly reply saying it would be no problem to extend our stay. The hotel offered free garage parking for motorcycles which is a very nice benefit. They were the only place during our trip to offer this.
The location is beautiful and peaceful. It is right next to the Belchen cable car which takes you to the top of the mountain. From there you can enjoy great panoramic views and good hiking. Our room was quite spacious and had a balcony. The hotel’s pool and spa areas are beautiful and a perfect place to relax. Dinner each night was wonderful. The first night we ordered from the restaurant’s menu, the second two nights we added the half board option which includes dinner. Half pension is the way to go here. Each course was not only delicious but also beautifully presented.
Overall it was the wonderful staff that really made our stay so enjoyable. They were always friendly and helpful and had a clear interest in us enjoying our stay. We would very gladly return to the Belchenhotel Jägerstüble.
