We went to Maximilien on a Friday night in mid-August, 2009. Our hotel had strongly recommended the restaurant and we were not disappointed. We arrived a little early for a 7:30pm dinner reservation and chose the option of sitting outside on the terrace. It was a warm, summer evening and the view over the vineyards made a great backdrop to a memorable meal.
One of us went for the prix fixe; the other opted for a la carte. I had a delightful duck foie-gras followed by cod and crayfish in a squash and cream reduction. My friend opted for the frog's legs in tempura, a salad and a rhubarb and strawberry dessert with a piquant sauce. There is an extensive wine list but we chose a pinot grigio from the area. During the meal, we were served no fewer than 3 "amuse-bouche"!!
The tables are nicely spaced apart though it would be a little more crowded in the elegant dining room. The service is what you would expect from a restaurant of this quality.
Incidentally, the restaurant is in the village of Zellenberg, which is very close to Ribeauville.
