“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

In an area that is rather short on museums, this was a highlight. Allow a couple of hours to give the museum its full value

“A nice museum if you are in the area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2008

We were in the area one snowy Easter, and it was good to take in a museum. Though Matisse was born in this town, he spent almost no time here. He did establish the museum, though.

The dining-room of Efstratios Eleftheriades has been moved here, with a tree painted on tiles and a stained-glass window by the artist.

As usual, the females in our party found it more riveting than the males did.

There are some comfy chairs you can lie in to look at a ceiling drawing.

It is a fairly short visit.

We ate at a pleasant bistro across from the entrance.
