My family rented a manor in Dordogne and en route to Paris we planned a two night stop over in the Samur area. We reserved all five rooms so we had the place to ourselves. Every room was more beautiful than the next and the gardens and views were spectacular. But the best was meeting Muriel, the owner. French but from California part of the year, she created magic every minute of our stay. Her recommendations were amazing from sites to visit to restaurants. Most spectacular were her homemade breakfasts. Homemade yogurts, quiches, fruit, pastries etc. We could hardly wait for the next time to sit at her table whether it was to eat or chat or just get to know her. The rooms were appointed beautifully each with its own bath. The beds were the most comfortable with the finest linens. I feel safe to say that this could be a destination in itself. Visit Bio Parc Zoo, Villandry's amazing gardens, and Troglodyte, wine and mushroom caves! Muriel and Maison Dovalle will remain in our hearts for ever more.
