“You get what you pay for...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2009

Stayed at Potters for 2 nights after driving from Sydney.

We were booked into a standard Queen, room was average if a little basic, clean with tea/coffee/fridge. Lovely setting, freindly staff. Both nights were very peacful as there wasn't a sound to be heard so great for sleeping.

The Brewery had a good choice of beers although the food was below average, quantity above quality. Struggled to get just tea and coffee for breakfast without paying for a full continential.

Also obvioulsy a bit isolated so you need to drive to get to other restaurants, so entertainment is limited.

We had booked to do a wine tour with Cheers Bus which I would recommend, only 6 people on the mini bus and a great time was had by all!!

All in all an average place but not sure I'd rush back.

Thanks for choosing Potters for your Hunter Valley accommodation. We are delighted you enjoyed our location and our beers - all brewed onsite! It's also great to get feedback on wine tour providers whom we recommend also.

Good size accommodation. It is older style and basic. Lack of decent TV signal. Not set up for business use.

Brewery has a decent selection of beers and food looked reasonable although I didn't try. A business partner thought the breakfast was good.

If you want to spend a night at the bar and not have to worry about travel then this will suffice. If you are going to try and use as a base for the Hunter I would save up some extra money and stay more central to the vineyards.

I am not sure you would want to/need to spend more than 1 night here.

Thank you for your review. We are proud of our beers brewed on site here at Potters and that you managed to have a sample of these! Our location is at the heart of Wine country and whilst we do not have a winery on site we are just minutes drive to many of the famous cellar doors of the region. We do also recommend taking a full day tour if you plan to visit many cellar doos and save your driving!

We stayed at Potters for four nights after staying in Sydney. The location is perfect, very close to the wineyards. The rooms were spacious, the bathrooms just as large, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

We stayed for two nights in villa 42. There were four adults and we all had a wonderful stay. The villa was very clean and comfortable and it was VERY quiet, we never heard a sound all night. OK it isnt the Hyatt but we were all happy with the accomodation. The staff in reception were very helpful and friendly (although we did not have to complain about anything). The bar staff were also very friendly and the food was fine. We had lots of clean fluffy towels and the bed linen was crisp and fresh. We would stay there again if we go back to the Hunter Valley and yes I would recommend the hotel based on our experience.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2008

We attended a wedding held in the complex. Customer service was not very good. Despite being assured we would have a room with 3 single beds when we arrived we still found we had been given a room with a king size bed & a rollaway. We were given a room with 3 beds without any hassle, but the change would not have been necessary had the reception staff been better. There weren't enough supplies (ie tea, coffee, milk) for 3 people and we kept running out but reception couldn't (wouldn't?) restock. Our jug broke - we got another one fairly quickly but it was another unnecessary hassle. No hot water in the room; all 3 of us had showers at different times (NOT one after the other) and none of us had a hot shower. The water was only lukewarm. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the outside surrounds were untidy and unkempt. Change of management only 2 weeks before our stay, I think they are trying but alot more work needs to be done to get the service up to the value of the prices being charged.

  • Liked — It was clean and convenient for the function we attended.
  • Disliked — No hot water and lack of customer service.

Thank you for staying at Potters in conjunction with your function. We are delighted to say that feedback such as yours has resulted in many areas of improvement since our new ownership. The grounds around the property are now landscaped and manicured and our citrus orchard and olive trees are doing well. Our housekeeping services have also undergone changes and training. We welcome feedback on all areas of our products and services and again thank you for your constructive comments.
