“What a pleasure”

Just returned from a weekend to visit nearby Brands Hatch. All the reviews are true - this is truely a remarkable find! Room excellent, hosts friendly and couldn't do enough for you. This will definately be our top of the places to stay at if we visit Kent again.

We stayed here when we went to the Hop Festival in Kent. A delightful and spacious accomadation with clean and bright bathroom. Extremely comforable beds. Very friendly hosts with a well prepared traditional English Breakfast. We were lucky to be there on a warm sunny day and had the delight of breakfast in the pretty garden. We would certainly stay there again.

I spent 2 weeks at up the downs whilst in Kemsing for work. The family were extremely welcoming and provided a lovely home to stay in. Make sure you're hungry at breakfast, cause there's enough to feed a small African country!

Me and my lifecompanion found this place when we travelled around Britain. Close to the South and the location in "the Garden of England" made it our "basecamp". We came close to the lovely hosts a real Family with all the eyes for the benefit of theire guests. Breakfast.!! Super.!! And that the Mrs was from Sweden did the conversations interesting. Next year we will stay there on our way to Cornwall..We can surley recomend this establishment.

Tucked away in a residential area, this gem of a B&B is superb. The hosts Ann-Sophie and Richard are welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Although from the outside of the building you could be forgiven for not recognising this as a B&B, the room we stayed in was fantastic. Massive room with massive en-suite, all spotless and inviting. The bed was sooo comfortable. At breakfast the hosts chatted at our invitation to us and to a fellow guest, a keen photographer staying for a while longer, lucky fella! Ann-Sophie even made him a sandwich for lunch!
When in this area again we will certainly not look to stay anywhere else

We were very pleased to have 'found' this B&B. Light, bright and clean. The room looked out over the garden, with trees behind. Cotton sheets, a bunch of sweet peas in the room, tea/coffee making facilities with proper milk in a china jug, breakfast in a sunny room with a proper table cloth (if we'd wanted we could have had breakfast outside on the patio, which isn't overlooked). Friendly and helpful proprietors. Peaceful. No street lighting, which was a joy. It's in an ordinary residential street which didn't look too promising when we turned into it, but any concerns were unfounded. Parking on the drive for one or maybe two cars. Very good for visiting friends locally, going to a wedding etc. Don't go for night-life - it's v. quiet!

This is such a nice B&B in an area so poorly, and bizarrely, served for such things that I am hesitant to tell other people about it (in case I can't get in next time). Nearby Otford has no over night accommodation on offer despite a profusion of inns and pubs in and around the centre. For the walker on the North Downs or the Pilgrim's Way, this really presents problems. Luckily, Upthedowns is here to provide a massively comfortable bed in a delightful room with a strangely luxurious bathroom ensuite, just a short walk from the North Downs trail. Not that I'm complaining about the deep bath, bidet and walk in shower combination, just surprised by that level of comfort at this price. The owners are discreet, attentive, walker friendly and supply an excellent breakfast. Not to be missed.
