“Very accommodating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

We were staying elsewhere (Le Chat Chocolat) and this was recomended as a good choice for dinner. We arrived just after 6.30 with a very hungry daughter to find out that the Chef didn't start cooking before 7.00! However, the Manager/Owner let us start with a self service cold buffet which would keep us going and the staff were extremely polite and friendly as well as accommodating. The rest of the dinner was really good value and well cooked/presented. It wasn't going to be Haute Cuisine but ticked all the boxes we were looking for that evening.

Typical French family hotel, fairly near town centre. The rooms were comfortable, slightly dated but spotlessly clean with wifi and large flat screen satellite tv. Very reasonably priced. Continental breakfast at 8 euro was excellent, with fruit, cereal, meat and a selection of delicious cheeses. Off street parking with the bonus of a neighbouring area with duck, geese and chickens. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

Many hotels were fully booked in the town as it was saturday evening. The local tourist office in Forges-Les-Eaux phoned and acquired a room for is at this hotel. We enjoyed a hearty welcome at this hotel when we arrived a few minutes after booking and really enjoyed the night we spent there. The freshly cooked dinner was lovely and excellent value for money.

As with other reviewers, I found this a good place to stay whilst travelling with cyclists. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. I especially appreciated them not replying in English when I spoke to them in faltering French! My evening meal was delicious and good value for money.

Not a fancy hotel. Very basic and simple, but all the ingredients for a good night sleep after cycling from London. The food is also simple and delicious. It puts the premier inn to shame. Proper French family hospitality, at a very modest price. Also a secure garage for the bike.

I have stayed here three times now, all during cycling trips.
The Sofhotel is ideally placed at the end of the Avenue Verte, so if you are doing Dieppe - Paris then this is an ideal first nights stop being 35 miles from Dieppe.

This hotel has secure bike storage - a row of lockable garages in the car park.

The staff are very friendly and there has always been someone there who can speak English, which really helps as my French is nowhere near as good as it should be.

The food is basic but is ideal after a days cycling. It normally consists of 4 courses, buffet bar for starters, a set main course (chicken/pasta/veg or similar), a cheese course (all local cheeses) and a desert (tarte du pomme) or similar. Breakfasts are standard continental.

The payment side of things can be a bit 'Fawlty Towers' - if you have pre-booked take a copy of the paperwork with you that shows the price quoted. We have had discrepancies which is down to the price stated in the e-mail being cheaper than the bill received - it was always sorted out in the end though.

Room Tip: Be careful with twins and triples - some can have camp style beds.

I spent 2 nights in the Sofhotel. They were very pleasant. Super clean room, along with a super clean bathroom. Everything smelled clean and nice. The way a hotel should. The bed was terrific"just right".
The staff at the Sofhotel are outstanding. Daniel et al. Really are a part of the area and hotel. They have invested themselves. Something not easily found now.
The hotel is a stones throw from the center of Forges. Great bakeries etc. The Resistance museum. Great pubs.

Room Tip: They have a lift!!
