“Best Chillin' in Karimunjawa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2011

This nicely designed bar and restaurant is beautifully situated on the shallow reef across the harbour with a large well kept green garden. The manager Samekto and his staff run the Amore Cafe as you would like it. The kitchen is fusion and of good quality. It is the only place with wifi for miles (islands!) and the veranda has a splendid view towards the next islands. As there is no electricity on the main island during the day, the Amore Cafe is the perfect refugio to relax or starting point for further planning your island hopping.

“Stands out... in a good way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2011

In this small island, Amore Cafe does stand out. The cafe is an ethnic house in the middle of luscious green garden, with the back porch facing the ocean. Inside the house is numerous trinkets and memorabilia, from antique chairs, figurines, books, posters, etc. Most of the seatings are in the back: traditional chairs, sofas, bale bengong (lounging gazebo), wooden swing, a promise of a relaxing afternoon tea while watching the sun sets.

Food selection was good, some traditional and international food. Price-wise is quite steep for Karimunjawa standard, but still cheaper than average city cafe in Indonesia. Food taste is OK, a good change after several days of grilled fish and seafood :)
