We spent 7 amazing nights at Ammos and were quite sad to leave on Saturday morning. Every aspect of our stay was near perfect. The staff was incredible and treated us like family learning our names, affectionately doting on our 3 and 9 year old, an even learning our personal tastes regarding our morning coffee and evening wine selection. I have a severe sesame allergy and the staff was extremely careful with my food selection, taking no chances with entree choices. I was completely confident of my food choices and had no issues during our stay. Our little daughter loves rice milk and Nikos sent the staff looking for organic (vanilla) rice milk in order to please her. Breakfast was amazing with daily offerings of freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly prepared yoghurts, local cheeses, honey, traditional Greek cakes, breads, complimented with an abundance of locally grown fruits, olives, and gorgeous vegetable dishes. Each afternoon we enjoyed the poolside amenities (freddo cappuccinos, milkshakes, mezzes, and fruit smoothies) and loved the close proximity to the beach. The water was clean, clear and had a smooth sandy bottom for long wades out in the shallow water. The kids made friends with other children from the UK, Germany, and Norway and enjoyed a FREE 2 hour kids club each day that the hotel offers (M-F). That allowed us to enjoy long walks and swims alone. Dinner was lovely and each evening we enjoyed alfresco dining while watching the gorgeous sunset and counting the stars. The local, fresh sardines were my favorite, while my husband gushed over the locally prepared goat. Dolmades, taziki, and stuffed courgettes flowers were among our daily choices of appetizers, as were the gorgeous Greek salads. We did take side trips into Chania (great leather shopping, summer clothes, and fun trinkets) and to Falasarna, Elafonisi, and Sifarni for the beaches. Nikos also arranged a wonderful afternoon wine excursion for us (just adults) to Manousakis Winery (labeled as Nostos) which I would recommend. The boutique winery is fabulous and the owners are dedicated to making exceptional local wine for the discerning palate. We loved the rose and syrah and even had a case shipped to us in The Netherlands. I am not sure what else to say except we are already planning our return trip to Ammos next July! As picky Americans who place a high premium on customer service, exceptional food, and amenities, Ammos gets the highest praise. P.S. Loved the children's hangers in the closet, small pillows for kids, and high end Greek toiletries..........
