“Nice location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We stayed in Pfaffenhofen in August 2013 for 10 days. Pension has a very good location, some 50 meters from the sea and consists of two buildings who led by one Greek families. They speak English and German. The owners are very friendly and willing to help.
The rooms are very clean, linen and towels are changed every three days. However, the rooms are not comfortable enough for 3 adults. The beds are short and wide enough for a quality vacation. Rooms need more furniture, accessories like glasses, cups ...
Air conditioning in the room next door was very noisy and it was not possible quality sleep and rest.
Major drawback is the poor internet in another building but I think this year will be resolved.
The bathroom is very small- but clean. The terrace is also very small for 3 people.
The climate in Vrasna is very nice this time of year. Surface temperature is a constant variances but with a slight wind because that seems to be considerably cooler.
Beach with lots of bars are 30 seconds away from Pension. Umbrella and deckchair are free of charge but you are required to buy a drink that is much more expensive than other places.
The beaches are sandy and suitable for young children because it has a lot of shallow water. The winds often blow and the sea is full of waves suitable for people who like to enjoy the waves.
Along the coast there are plenty of restaurants to the standard Mediterranean cuisine. Nea Vrasna and Asprovalta, are only a few kilometers away, with a much larger selection of entertainment, restaurants, shops, and nightlife entertainment.
If you are coming by car definitely recommend that you visit Kavala and Thassos, known by the name- floating forest.
The overall impression is that this part of Greece suitable for those much needed vacation, for seniors who are bothered by noise as well as for people with young children.
For those seeking an active holiday with the need to see a traditional Greek or to have fun, this is definitely not the place for it.

Room Tip: Rooms with direct views of the sea and onto the side street were most of the day in the shade

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

We stayed for a couple of days at the beginning of June 2012 at Pension Pfaffenhofen, a family-run hotel consisting of two buildings. It was out-of-season and we were almost the only visitors. Well-kept rooms, friendly service (also in German and English), the beach some 50 meters away, lots of restaurants nearby, supermarkets and other places to eat. During the season the proprietors offer breakfast, and even dinner, but at this time of the year they recommended to us a very good taverna nearby, on the beach, which we liked very much and visited twice.
Unfortunately, in early 2012 there was a sort of a tornado in Asprovalta that swept most of the sand from the beach into the first and even the second row of houses, leaving the beach in pebbles only. Apart from that and the inevitable mosquitoes in the evenings outside, everything was either perfect or near-perfect. A small town, very calm. A very good location for using a car - one can visit many beaches or mountainous places nearby, or even go as far as Kavala, Tassos island, etc., to the east, or Mount Athos to the west. Actually, the whole of Halkidiki is easily accessible by road to the west. The cruise from the town of Ouranoupoli along the monasteries of Mount Athos is an unforgettable experience, taking some 3 hours and a half. There are also other boats for specialized journeys. But beware of the winding mountainous road from Asprovalta to Ouranoupoli - it is an hour and a half drive, but otherwise the scenery is beautiful and you can stop and marvel at the sea and the countryside. The small village (or town) of Ouranoupoli itself is, surprisingly, very beautiful, offering a mixture of old interesting and picturesque houses and new hotels and villas along the beaches. In front of Ouranoupoli is Amouliani island, flat but very beautiful (you can see it from the ferry to Mount Athos), easily and quickly accessible by ferry from a location nearby (you can even take your car there).
We would definitely visit Pension Pfaffenhofen again, given the chance.
