“Excellent stopover for Thessalonika airport.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Recently re furbished to an excellent modern standard, we were extreemly satisfied with our very comfortable double room for the night, with excellent aircon, just a short walk from the sea front & all the cafes, restaurants & bars. The bathroom was large modern & clean, fully tiled, with a powerfull shower, although as is usual in Greece, is considered a 'wet room', & therefore does not have a shower 'curtain'.The large balcony was great to sit out on & have a drink with street & sea views. The staff were extreemly helpful & spoke very good English. The Greek breakfast was very generous, with as much coffee as we wanted. There was plenty of parking available around the hotel. Would definately stay here again.

I've been in 22 coutries, but this is the worst hotel I've ever visited. It was the first time I called touristic police.

First of all it has only ONE STAR, not two (as it was stated on Booking.com) - it is said in the official document from one of Greek ministries. The staff is very unfriendly and they don't speak English (except the director-woman). Rooms are small, with very old and very bad furniture. Bathroom is disguisting - shower tub has no curtains, several bugs were seen, the smell is auful. The view from the window was on a brick wall (it is really not a joke!), the hotel is on the second line from the sea. And the price is too high for this kind of hotel, plus breakfast is 7 euro for tea and muffin.

Due to a late arrival of our flight we chose hotel Avra. And the hotel was adequate for this purpose. Only a short 10 minutes drive from the airport and a lot of restaurants around the corner on the waterside. The room was rather small, but tidy. The bathroom was also small and had no shower curtain or screen (rather common in Greece). We had partial seaview but the rest of the view you can better forget. We only stayed for one night, so it was not a problem. The breakfast was for Greek standard okay.

I spent 3 nights at this hotel and it was a great choise. It can be easily reached by bus from the airport Thessaloniki /number 72/, the bus stop 1 minute from Thessa and 5 minutes to there. Minimarket in front of the hotel, big supermarket is also just 5 minutes away. The building is inside-outside completely renovated and spotlessly clean as well as the rooms. Located in the middle of the long promenade of Perea and just 30meters from the Beach with lots of Bars, Restaurants, Quick meals ect...the room is small but absolutely comfortable, cleaned everyday and has everything what you need!! Further on the rooms have a nice, long Balcony and almost everyone has a seaview, despite this, the hotel in the second row / the noise from the promenade cant be hardly heared/. The hotel staff was very helpful. Special thanks for the owner, Marina. She is a very kind, helpful Lady with a nice, natural, truthful smile, giving informations all the times, you needed. Next time, if i will be in this area, no question, where you stay! Highly recommanded!

We just spent 4 nights at this hotel and all i can say is that it was great! The beach is 30 meters away and not crowded at all, and you can eat really well in different places with very similar prices.

The hotel staff was really helpful and nice to us, all in all leading to a great atmosphere. Everyone just lets you enjoy your vacation and they help you with almost anything if you ask, while smiling truthfully (and not just to take your money). They really were true representatives of Greek hospitality.

We had taken a 2 room apartment which was clean and nice, with a small kitchen and fridge. The balconies are quite wide and sunny if you didn't want to go to the beach. Also, they are constantly renovating the place, replacing furniture and such. Personally, i can't wait to go back there.

We had just 3 nights to spend (long weekend) and did not want to rent a car : so arriving late in Thessaloniki I booked on line ( Europe Taxis) a taxi to Peraia-15 km from the airport (17 euro), the driver was waiting for us on time. The hotel is family run, rooms are small but have everything, even a small balcony from where we could see the village pier. The beach is a few steps away with many bars and restaurants; if you want peace and quiet walk on the left and after 500m you will find beds with umbrellas and drink included for 3.50 euro (just in front of a gym). This hotel is inexpensive and if you book on their website you get a 10% discount. This is a simple place so if you are into boutique hotels it is not for you. We will certainly go again.

My girlfriend, a couple of her friends and I decided to travel to Greece during the offseason because we didn't know if we were going to be able to ever get a chance to go back. We chose Thessaloniki over Athens because of a great deal we found on a flight, and we were uncertain of the political unrest in the cultural capital of Greece. We found this little hotel while looking through a couple of websites, and we are so happy we did!

Hotel Avra was wonderful. There were very few people in the town of Perea when we went there, mostly because it was in March, but that was a nice change of pace from the bustle of Thessaloniki. We rented a car, because we knew we were going to go in and out of the city often, and Perea is about 20 minutes outside. The concierge/owner was very accomodating and funny, as even she asked us why we came during the offseason! The rooms were great and the surrounding restaurants were very eager for our patronage. Definitely worth coming here for the value and the escape if you ever decide to go to Thessaloniki (which you definitely should!)
