“All around great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

This is a small inn in the rolling hills of central Tuscany. Stayed a few days and would absolutely repeat and reccomend. It is about 20 minutes from Sienna or S Gimignano, an hour and change from Florence or Pisa. The chianti regions, Montalcino, and Montepulcino, are easy day trips, as is Siena or Arezzo, and I would imagine the beach cities. I would even reccomend this place for people who want to see Firenze or Pisa, but don't want to stay in the city overnight. Although you will probably need a car here, and you generally would not want to drive into those cities. I was happy to let our host, Ellio, reccomend places to visit every morning. He made some excellent itinararies.

Rooms are tidy and have a private bath with shower. Beds are comfortable and, although there is no Air Conditioning, it really does cool down in the evening. Fans provide ample fresh air. There is a pool, as well as several outdoor tables to sip a bottle of wine at. Breakfast is glorious, served with coffee, cakes, cheeses, and fresh fruits. I loved the cakes, which were differrnt every day.

WiFi is not free, but inexpensive, although it was spotty in the room. It worked at breakfast.

There are less than 10 rooms at this place, and it has a couples vibe, but I think childeren would be fine. I do not think there are any restaurants within walking distance, but the regions is best seen by day trips. Service is really great. It would be a great place for a small group of people, especially if day tripping to wine country sounds nice.

I would definitly reccomend this place and would like to stay again.

Great place to be treated with all the comforts of home and close to all the great places to see in Tuscany. Great service from extremely helpful owners with simple but wholesome breakfasts with extremely fresh produce. Honesty bar is very fairly priced, well stocked and right to hand. Lovely gardens let you watch the sunset over a glass or two of great Tuscan wines.
Recommend hiring a convertible and soaking up the great sunshine and views across the region.

Elio is the best hotel host we have ever met and runs an excellent hotel providing a first class service. Breakfast was excellent and personal service that was the best we came across during our trip to Tuscany.

We had a wonderful stay at Vecchio Asilo. The location is super convenient for visiting the Tuscany area - most destinations are within 30 minutes drive. The room is spacious, clean & welcoming, with personal touches such as fresh flowers, a handwritten note & fresh prunes from their garden. The owners, Elio & Stefania are fantastic hosts. Breakfast is absolutely delicious, with Stefania's daily home-made pastries & cakes. Everyday, Elio gave us awesome recommendations on where to visit, when to go & restaurants to try. We were able to avoid high tourist peaks & discovered little gems not in the guide books by following his suggestions. We cannot wait to go back already. Highly recommend this hotel to folks visiting the area!

This is a fabulous little 7-bedroom hotel near both Siena and Florence. It was our best choice during our recent 5 week trip through France, Spain and Italy and we doubt if it can be topped! We will recommend it to all who want to come to Tuscany, Florence or the Siena area

Elio and Stefana, our host and hostess were marvelous. It was obvious to us that they work very hard to keep their guests happy. For us, they are the only people we encountered in our travels whom we can honestly say had a “smile” in their voices and in their manner.

They gave us different daily itineraries and make absolutely fantastic breakfasts. The hostess, Stefana, makes delicious pastries for the breakfast daily. Her husband, Elio, gave advise on restaurants, tours and was extremely helpful.

The rooms in the hotel are spacious, tastefully decorated, extremely clean and each room has breathtaking views of gorgeous Tuscany.

Here are some of the special things that were done for us by Elio and Stefana: Upon the advise of Elio on two separate days, we took a short bus ride into Florence and Siena.. He also guided us on maps to many charming Tuscan towns: Monteriggioni, Bagno Vignoni, Montepulciano and San Gimignano. And Stefana came to our rescue when one of us left an important medicine in the USA. She called the local pharmacy and shortly later the problem was solved.

We originally reserved the hotel for three nights, but because of our wonderful experience at the hotel and with Elio and Stefana, we extended our stay for two more nights.

What a treat it was to stay here!

This place is a real gem - with a great location, big, clean rooms and the most amazing views over the vineyards... Guido could not have been any friendlier or more helpful. Fantastic stay, very good value for money and most highly recommended.
