Well, get to know this hotel thru random searching for a weekend trip. While heading to this hotel, the road was quite narrow and we have gone into quite an isolated place...a bit deep location from the main highway. On the way, the nature was beautiful...we saw quite a number of Malay villages. Once we reached there, the hotel was located on top of a small hill. That's why its name has 'Hill' but the 'Spa' was just a disappointed...no spa at all. The staff was polite and quick allocating a room. It has only 2 floors of rooms. Not a huge hotel...but I hope the room was fine.
Once entered the room, everything was quite new...nice & comfy bed, very clean room with 32" LCD TV. The colour was quite earthy and nice..however, it does not have fridge...this was the first time that it does not provide a fridge in a hotel room even there was a compartment for it. When I called to ask the reason, they just replied that all rooms do not have fridge...without reason. The only I could think of was, to save electricity...so, that night, I had warm beers and stouts instead. Furthermore, there has no hair dryer too and bathtub....very unusual for 4 - 5 star rating hotel.
The swimming pools was very square and dull looks. Not attractive at all. Upon checking the surrounding and its facilities, it has only a moutain bike renting and a table tennis game...that's it. When asked about dinner, we need to book first before they could allocate food for us....weird. Anyway, we never had dinner there. The aircond was somehow the noisiest that I had....
In the morning, the air was fresh but really boring. Beside the greeneries, the place was lack of flowers. The breakfast was really plain...nasi lemak, curry chicken, sausage, fried noodle, nasi kunyit, breads etc....really not tasty. All the half boiled eggs were too raw..all guests just put them on the egg counter..there was no scrambled or omelette egg..just plain fried eggs.
This is quite a new hotel but it does not provide add-on value to attract guests to come again. This 'resort' needs to put more effort to stay alive in hotel industry....moreover, i noticed a sign to remind the guests that alcohol is prohibited in the premises...my god..this is Malaysia...a lot of foreigner will be visiting...by doing this..this hotel is limiting its customer ...
However, i never bothered too as I have loaded a number of bottles into the room. Who cares...they never pre-empted us when booking the room.
Overall, that was a boring place..thought they mentioned to visit a nearby river only...I defintely will not be coming back...oh yeah..about the checking out...it was slow as only 1 permanent staff available with the rest were trainees....

Attended a training course here and was pleasantly surprised to see the hotel, which is brand new. It's on top of a hill and has good views of the Janda Baik area.
The standard rooms were new and clean, but they were small. Not recommended if you're travelling with kids. I guess they built the hotel with MICE as their main agenda, so if you want to hold your trainings or meetings, the resort is excellent with their facilities.
The swimming pool was ok, but I think they put in too much chlorine. You could taste it in the water.
Food was good enough for me since I was on a training package, but looking at the buffet spread, there wasn't much choice and I noticed most of the food was spicy, another minus point if you're here with kids.
Overall, the hotel was good for me travelling on business. We enjoyed a late checkout and the services was also reasonable. But, I would probably stay somewhere else if I'm travelling with small children.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the hills.

If you are a nature lover but don't want to stay in a chalet/hut, this is the place for you. Located deeply in the Janda Baik like other chalet provider (the road is not very good and narrow), it offers a swimming pool (not cleaned very well since people tend to swim earlier than the cleaner arrival). The lunch / dinner buffet were okay at the price of RM25 per person which is quite cheap. The reservation, reception counter and people there were very welcoming. But unfortunately even though they put SPA on the hotel's name, but there is no spa at the moment.

Room Tip: Choose a pool view for your children's view, but if not you can take the main view which is dire...

Stayed 2 nights for a departmental retreat. Its a new hotel located on a hill in the quaint village of Janda Baik, a one-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur.
Rooms were clean and comfortable with great views of the surrounding countryside. The early mornings were cool with mist shrouding the landscape and afternoons pleasant with a constant breeze blowing in. Breakfast was average but we had an excellent barbecue dinner and the soup was delicious. Our compliments to the chef!
Our outdoor activity was spent at the Ulu Tampit waterfall. The one hour trek was worth it as the cool, clear waters of the waterfall awaited us at the end. Anto-thanks for being our guide.
I would certainly recommend this resort to friends and family wanting to be close to nature.

Just came back from a 2D1N trip stay at Cherengin Hills Resort. The resort is fairly new, and nestled on top a hill with magnificent jungle/hillside views.

Room is basic (don't expect 4 star but this is probably the most modern hotel in Janda Baik if you are not looking for homestay/kampung types). Plus points are a very comfy bed, pillows and comforter as well as strong air conditioning. Have tea/coffee making facilities but no mini bar or hair dryer (upon request). Bathroom is clean with powerful shower.

Breakfast is fairly decent, with local fare (nasi lemak, fried meehoon), porridge, cereals and bread. Staff are polite and helpful, responsive with requests such as baby cot, glass of water, etc.

Did not try the swimming pool but looks nice from the rooms. Wish it had more trees as there were some cleared land for telematches which didn't look right in the middle of this beautiful surroundings.

Would come back and stay again for a relaxing holiday.

we are having an away day at the Cherengin hills convention & spa resort.. at first we are so nervous since this place is relatively deep in the village. once we get there, the air is nice, the view and environment can bring peace of mind ( located on top of hill and kinda cold). the hotel room is good, not too small yet comfortable enough. the meals are extremely delicious and marvelous and the staff are friendly too..

however, there are still room for improvement such as the facilities for recreational. they have few bikes ( 4 for adult and 3 for child), medium size swimming pool, limited internet to lobby area and far away from main pekan ( small city). the room is comfortable, but the shower do not have indicator for hot and cold water eventho the hot water is available. they might not provide sandal/selipar. The tv is quiet big yet they do not have fridge in the room :p

nevertheless, the trip is nice and the meals are extremely good!~~
