“2nd time and as good as ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2011

We love this place so we went back with different grandchildren and they loved it! The animals , the swimming pool and the new born lambs were much appreciated.
It is a central position ( close to A38), convenient for most top spots so you don't have to fight the narrow lanes which in school holidays in South devon are just clogged up.

We stayed in Woodbine and it certainly was not dirty! See another comment.

Room Tip: Book early especially during school holidays.

We spent February half term at Knowle Farm and stayed in Foxglove. We previously stayed in Woodbine, which is quite a bit larger, but we thoroughly enjoyed staying in this smaller 'upside down' cottage. Accommodation was once again superb and the children loved it. We were very lucky with the weather and we spent most of our time on the farm, as the children were perfectly happy swimming everyday, visiting and feeding the animals and walking through the beautiful woods surrounding the property. We were even lucky enough to see some deer this year! We would highly recommend Knowle Farm - especially to parents with young children, as there is so much to keep them occupied - even on rainy days.

We wanted a half-term break with the children somewhere where there was always something to do irrespective of the weather. With all of the attractions of South Devon within easy reach and the on-site facilities and animals, Knowle Farm exceeded expectations. We stayed in Cow Mumble which we found to be extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean. We will definitely be returning to experience more of the same.

Staying at Knowle Farm was a relaxing experience. Away from all the city traffic it was nice to wake up to the sound of clucking chickens and quacking ducks. Then after breakfast take a leisurely stroll to see the other farm animals all which seemed to be very people friendly. It’s a great location a very short drive to Dartmoor National Park and not that far to get to the coast. Our cottage was very warm and cosy , adequately equipped for us to cook breakfasts and evening meals and was so quiet at night time. Being in such a rural location it was nice to know that the owners Richard and Lynn were only a few minutes walk away.
We will return again probably in the summer time so that we can eat outside and enjoy Devon in bright sunny weather.

We stayed at Knowle Farm over the New Year period, 29th Dec 2010 - 5th Jan 2011. Knowle Farm is very well equiped and nicely suituated farm self catering holiday that is great for small children. We stayed in 'Woodbine' which is the largest house and we stayed with our 2 children and extended family. Woodbine is very well equiped and seems newly decorated. The main problem we had was that the period of the stay was too long. This was fixed by the owners and could not be changed. It was a 7 night stay and this was to long. We would have happily stayed for 4-5 nights instead. Our main issue was cleanliness. Woodbine had 4-5 flies in it when we arrived and it took us 3 days to get rid of them. When we arrived there were many dead flies by the television set that had not been hoovered up and across the top of the ledges.
I got quite weezy on the first night so moved my bed in the twin room and discovered thick dust on the floor and skirting boards. I used the hoover provided by the owners to hoover up and also did our childrens room. It was thick and had obviosuly not been done in a long time.
The property itself and surrounding areas were delightful and it is a real shame that the owners could not maintain the property better and be more flexible with its rental period.

Richard and Lyn make you so welcome. The place is full of animals (pigs, sheep, donkeys, alpacas) and ducks and chickens etc. The children loved feeding them all and the indoor swimming pool where they were able to really improve their swimming.
It is a charming place with very nice traditional cottages and barn conversions.
We've booked again for next year!
