“Pool needs a clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2011 via mobile

Pricey, we paid 240 euros for a small suite. Pull-out bed for the kids. Breakfast was poor. Pool needed a clean. New hotel, built in the same style as everything else, would have been good value at half the price.

Never written a review but just had to say what a fabulous hotel. All the staff were excellent.

Room Tip: If you can ask for a room on first floor more private.

The staff at Monti di Mola go out of their way to help you with everything - from booking restaurants to handing out maps of the best beaches. Veronica in particular (on reception) made our stay very memorable.
The hotel setting is lovely with a large pool and sunbeds and drinks service if you want it. However there's no restaurant to speak off, which means you have to go off-site for food. That's fine if you just want to pop over the road to the supermarket (well stocked and open til 8pm) but be prepared to drive to proper restaurants (we tried one of the only two restaurants within walking distance - Trattoria Caprese - and it was average at best).
The rooms in the hotel are fine, with quite hard beds and quite small bathrooms. This isn't five star luxury but then you're not paying five star prices.
All in all we had a good stay, although we'd probably stay up the coast in Porto Cervo or Baja Sardinia (very nice town) next time, just to have beaches and restaurants within walking distance.

The hotel is conveniently located near porto cervo which is about a 5min drive. A car is a must to explore the region and to go to the various beaches in the area. We were there mid-september and the weather was still ok; one rainy day but in general sunny with temperatures varying around 25C.
Next to the hotel there are some shops like a pharmacy and supermarket and there are loads of restaurants in the area. Ask the staff for their suggestions regarding beaches, bars and restaurants as they are very happy to help. As already mentioned in previous reviews, the ladies at the reception (katya & veronica) are great! Very welcoming and helpful!!
The hotel is very clean and the rooms are nice and the one we had (210) was very spacious and had a large balcony.
To sum it up: we had a very nice stay in hotel monti di mola!!

Stayed mid september 2011 with wife and her parents (87-82). Booked on the basis of favourable reviews. All the good points are 100% confirmed. Basically you trade seaviews and glamour location (Abbiadori is on top of an inland hill, 2,5 km from the cosy PortoCervo) with:
- 15 // 20% lower price, comparing with PortoCervo hotels. and you have:
- a very particular building with a swimmable (18 m) pool at the center, and the oval 2 storey building, not too big, not too small (25 or so rooms) around the pool, rooms facing it.
- a "fresh" (2006) construction, with large rooms, good quality bathroom fittings, plenty of electric sockets, free wifi, many TV channels.
- a nice arrangement for breakfast: interior room or porch with tables, sofas...
- really helpful owners/staff.

The only suggestion is to add one shelf in the dress cupboards (they told me only some are missing that).

Overall very pleased with this hotel. Utterly spotlessly kept and our rooms were cleaned and turned down twice daily.

The bed is comfortable enough, the view is of the mountains, some international tv is provided and the air con works very well. There is something a little Disney-fied about the building itself but it is inoffensive and the pool area is a pleasant place to be. There is a dogs’ kennel area near the car park which stinks to high-Heaven of dog urine unfortunately, but this is only whilst you pass through after leaving your car.

Location is excellent generally although you will definitely need a car to make the most of this area. Anywhere closer to the coast will cost an arm and a leg, and Abbiadori is well placed for shooting off to various location and seeing more of the north of Sardinia than just a single beach/hotel swimming pool.

The staff are very helpful, with a particular mention to the very charming Veronica who made some fantastic recommendations of places to eat (take her suggestions for Belvedere and Il Conti) and can’t do enough to help you with recommendations for beaches and places to visit, maps, reservations etc etc; a real asset to the hotel.

The bathrooms are large enough but for some reason they have the smallest showers in the world. I am not a small man but anyone really big would simply not be able to use them - even my petite wife found it pretty daft.

Overall, we were happy with our choice of hotel given the (particularly cost of) competition in the area.

We stayed her for a short ( on a whim) 4 night break on the 20th August.
The reception staff are amazingly helpful and the hotel itself is super spotlessly clean.

The pool area was very quiet in the day and generally the hotel was very peaceful.

We didnt book a car because we assumed a 4km taxi trip into Porto Cervo would be cheap- wrong.. It costs approx 25 euros one way.

We ended up using the bus service to go to Porto Cervo and to the beaches and that cost us 4 euro each return.

Also make sure you take beach towels. We have been used to towels being provided by the hotel but this hotel charged 12 euros a day per towel-... so we managed without!

Likewise with the tolietries- poor selection.

I would also avoid room 204 as the shower cubicle is tiny. This is also one of only 2 rooms without a balcony...It was a standard room so maybe you need to book a superior?

The breakfast is continental and nice enough- but no variation. I dont believe the hotel caters for evening meals as we never saw a menu or anyone else eating but there is a good pizza/steak house down the road ( turn right out of hotel and bear right at roundabout. Then its on the left hand side of the road)- and there is a bar below it- though all drinks seem to be 10 euros whether its a Mojito or just a vodka/tonic.

The bar staff are lovely but for some reason they didnt start giving us "nibbles" with our drinks until the last evening- they also only turned our beds down on the last evening...

All in all nice hotel if you want peace and quiet- we probably would have enjoyed it more if we had had a balcony and bigger shower to be honest.

Room Tip: Avoid room 204- small shower and no balcony. Ask for a room with a balcony as there are only 2 rooms...
