Beautiful historic place.
THe rooms are large, clean. Each one is different apparently, so i'd recommend you ask for a traditional one (rather than one with the modern furniture, unless you really want to feel in the 21st century). Bathroom was grandiose, like the view from the window.
Swimming pool is large and a great place to spend an afternoon. Water is cold though, so beware.
The tour of the cellar was nice and fun, thanks to the somelier (who is also the somelier at the restaurant).
Restaurant food is gorgeous, as you'd expect in a relais & chateau. Don't miss the foie gras and truffle dishes

I don't see how the Chateau itself could be improved. We adored the building, its magnificent site above the Lot river, and its elegant gardens. The rooms feature some helpful contemporary touches along with old-world charm. The hotel manager, extremely helpful, is available to guests and the staff is attentive as well. However, relative to our recollection of the hotel during an earlier stay, the restaurant has run downhill alarmingly, both in terms of the quality of food and of service. Nothing about the food was interesting, and while the setting, in a magnificent courtyard of the chateau, is both impressive and charming, the restaurant overall was very much a draw-back. It should be losing its Michelin Star any year now unless it pulls up its socks. Breakfast, on the other hand, was more copious, diverse and creative, served in generous buffet form, than any other we experienced on this trip, with excellent service to boot.

Beautiful place -amazing rooms, large swimming pool, stunning views, nice staff. We cycled to the hotel and it was an extremely rewarding place to come to (the hill is a bit steep). The only reason I am not giving it five stars is that we were slightly surprised by the lack of staff coordination (and class) at dinner for a Relais & Chateaux hotel (compared to the majority of other Relais & Chateaux we have been to in France). Furthermore, the food was good but not amazing (we chose the degustation menu and quite frankly expected to have an amazing dinner since everything else was (judging also by the price of the menu! -and compared with much smaller and cheaper restaurants in the area where we thought the food was nicer). The chef was probably having a bad evening. However, breakfast WAS truly amazing -so great experience overall.

This was my second time to stay here and I found the overall experience amazing. The views, the suite (I was with my wife and three children) and the food. The service was always spot on and I loved the pool and its cool water. The breakfast was delicious, a real delight to start the morning like that. My one reservation was the food for the children at dinner time. It is gastronomic cooking, great for the grownups but not so good for the children. I wld suggest having a simpler menu to hand for the children especially after a few nights eating there. Overall, a strong recommend. I won't tell u my favourite room because otherwise you will all want it!

We found this hotel by searching for interesting places to stay on Google Earth. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed into the Chateau by the very friendly and helpful staff. Our bags were bought up to our lovely room on the third floor where we had a nice view out over the valley below through the small windows that were once used to shoot arrows down at the invading forces. Our room was very comfortable with a grand bed and an interesting TV that was hidden inside of a very large mirror. The bathroom was nicely tiled with terra cotta tiles and had a large tub and shower. This hotel has been well restored with first class touches throughout the ancient structure. One thing that is amazing is the vinyard that is attached to this hotel with its huge celler located underneath the front entrance of the hotel! Underground is a wine celler holding over 400 barrels and 30,000 liters of some of the finest Cahors wine in France.
There are some wonderful gardens to explore and the swimming pool is fantastic especially on a hot day because the water is so cool and refreshing.

Room Tip: Rooms on the river side of the chateau allow for a fantastic view down below.

We arrived after a long journey from Dubai.

On reaching the summit of the hill on which the hotel is located the views are breathtaking, as is the structure of the hotel itself.

We were met promptly and given a tour of the facilities. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. Our room (a standard) was large for the money we paid and the views from the turret we were located in were fantastic.

We had lunch - which represented decent value for a hotel of its type and looked over the valley enjoying the sunshine. The service was friendly and helpful, and the food tasted as good as it looked.

The pool was great - it is unheated, which provides an initial shock...but is of a good size and it has a childrens section.

We toured the cellar where the Chateau houses its own local vintage.

We proceeded to eat at the retsuarant in the evening. The food was delicious (in my opinion although my wife found the main course fussy), and enjoyed the inner court yard setting.

All in all we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Only downside was the service was somewhat slow at times with our glasses going empty occassionally. Whilst this was a small irritation, it did not spoil our trip and would go back.

Be clear it is not cheap, but seemed reasonable value for the location and the quality of the food.

One of the most beautiful places on earth. The views from our room were exceptional and the grounds were stunning. I want to come back here every year. The food at the restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed the local wines and cheeses. A little slice of heaven.
