Snow runs one of the best Caravan and Cottage parks that we've stayed in over the years. He pointed out the quality of the beds, and that makes a lot of difference getting a good sleep after a long journey (down the goat track from Raglan, bumpy but beautiful). Because of his efforts we managed to have dinner with the owners Barb and Trish of the Blue Chook Inn (it was closed that night). He and the local GP. The rooms were clean, tidy and with every comfort of home. And he has a great location in one of the pretty out of the way places in NZ

Thank you for your kind review,
There are two people who own this business- And we both work very hard to accommodate our guests.
I am pleased Snow took good care of you and you had a very pleasant stay.

I searched for a place to stay on the westcoast and finally landed here. The campspots are literally directly on the water with a great view. If you are searching for a quiet place and want to avoid popular places full of mainstreamtourists, then Kawhia is a good decision. Facilities are new and clean, there´s a big kitchen with heaps of stuff (you don´t need own cutlery or pots and pans). 2 Pianos, TV, lots of opportunities to sit and relax outside. This Place has everything you need, but the most enjoying thing is the friendly owner Snow, who´s always good for a laugh and talk and is very helpful. Free shovels for the hot water beach! I wish you a good time, thanks, Sascha

My partner and I stayed one night with our campervan in july 2013. Out of season, the camping was empty. Very friendly staff, very nice place and good instalations. A great place to relax and enjoy Kawhia superb landscape.

Thank you very much for your kind review.
It's timely after the previous one we received just last week, which upset my husband and I very much.
We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and our facilities and you have restored our faith.
We do our best to provide good, clean facilities, but as anywhere winter weather always heightens any short comings.

kind regards,
Snow and Bronwyn Anderson

I'm sorry to say I left my cabin 30 minutes after checking in. It was too damp and smelly and after turning up the heater the athmosphere got even worse. The heater, as well as the cabin, apparently hadnt been used for ages so spread a burning foul smell. The athmosphere in the TV lounge and kitchen wasn't good either with furniture and cutlery all over the place, the owner tol me it was from a wedding a few weeks ago... Definitely would NOT recommend this place, although the reviews on the beachfront units are positive, but do avoid the cabins!!

Room Tip: Avoid the cabins!

It is unfortunate that you did not come and see either of us straight away with your concerns.
Yes, we have just had a family wedding for two young folk whose two and half year old has had cancer for the last 17 months. We have all been under considerable stress as other members of the family have cancer also. So it was done as cheaply as possible. It was a way bigger job for us than we anticipated, particularly with the winter weather. We received Nothing for it, it was all a gift of love- all the accommodation provided also.
So in a way we are paying again for it now.
That said, that is not your problem, nor should it be.
This is also our home, and for what you paid you still had reasonable accommodation, free internet and facilities, albeit a little untidy.
You booked the cheapest option and had you seen us prior to leaving, we would have given you your money back. It was explained to you the place wasn't at its best and you could have left without paying, but chose instead to go without even speaking to anyone,
and then write a negative review.
The stuff in the lounge no way impacted on seating, but was merely the marquee that had been taken down. As its been raining solid for weeks, no doubt it could have been musty.
Of course that was your prerogative, but having only stayed the half hour you say you stayed, refunding your money wouldn't have been an issue. Only the guest knows what they require.
We let the kids have the wedding here in the Winter so as to NOT impact on other people, but of course its the wettest time of the year and the worst time to clean up afterwards.
Our apologies, but we wish you'd come and seen either Snow or I, so at least we could have done right by you, rather than just leave and SLAM us afterwards.

We stayed 1 night in our rental camper. Bronwyn was very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We even got free wifi which is very good for the traveller. The facilities were very clean, the showers were lovely and hot, everything was great. Plus we camped right next to the water so had a great view.

My husband and I stayed for one night in a backpacker room. The whole place is very clean. Spacious kitchen with cooking utensils and grill in the yard. Mr. Snow was a great host. It's like staying at your uncle's place. We felt home the minute we parked our car. To Mr. Snow, thank you for your postcards. We did send them to our parents.

After a week's work around Auckland and Hamilton, i was ready for a quiet, idyllic spot and Kawhia offers this. The Beach-side S-cape was perfect, with generous and friendly hosts and a fantastic view form a cabin that couldn't be closer to the water. Small but well appointed with a nice deck to sit on too. The town is a sleepy place with a 1960s vibe and look, but if anything that is an upside not a detraction. Thanks to Snow and Bronwyn.

Thank you for trying out Kawhia on your work related travels.
And all the way from Australia.

We are pleased you enjoyed the scenery and your stay.
The town is very small and definitely does have a 60's vibe about it.
Many people come back time and time again to recapture some nostolgia from their youth.

Thanks very much for taking the time to review our property as referral assists us in generating income to keep the property at a high standard for our guests.

Kind regards,
