“Interesting but not much to see”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

I did a tour of the Ancient City with a stop here first. It's worth a visit but the museum is very disappointing. The elephant temple is quite impressive however. Going inside you realize how huge it is. The same family that is constructing the Ancient City in Samut Prakan and the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya is responsible for this site. They have taken on a labor of love to preserve and celebrate Thai culture and history by preserving it in these various sites.

“Well worth the effort to find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

Having gone to the end of the metro line to Bearing and then a 30 minute taxi drive I was hoping the effort was worth it. I was not disappointed, the temple site is small, but the elephant statue is most impressive in size and quite a feat of engineering. The small gardens were beautiful and the restaurant simple but good. Make sure that you take the stairs or elevator inside the temple. I would not expect a visitor to spend more than a couple of hours here.

“Beautiful, tranquil and a little haven in a crazy city.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

The gardens are beautiful, the elephant statue an incredible piece of engineering but inside is so delicately and unusually decorated it was fascinating. Calling it a museum is a bit misleading - more a work of art. Chill out beside a pond, lunch in the inexpensive cafe or take millions of photos . I did all 3! We got a taxi there but it was harder to find a taxi back. Gate guard was very helpful in trying to hail one for us though. Lots of steps so not really suitable for buggies etc though there were lots of families enjoying the fairly flat garden.

“First Impression”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

Erawan was the first "temple" museum that I visited. I especially liked the grounds. I enjoyed the leisurely pace of my walking tour and liked watching people engaging in prayer and ritual. The Big Elephant is certainly unique.
