Francesca has made the farm house warm, welcoming, and hospitable. She was extremely accommodating prior to our arrival and certainly during our stay. She suggested great restaurants (and made us reservations), nearby towns to tour, and even helped us arrange a car service to take us to the Rome airport. The grounds are beautiful -- love the honeysuckle car port and don't forget to smell the lavendar and rosemary bushes -- very intoxicating. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful and a great way to start your day. We visited Civita (don't miss this!) Bagnoreggio, Lago Balsena, and some of the towns on the lake. Umbria is beautiful, relaxing and worth a visit.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor. Our only complaint was the bed was uncomfortable and too hard so...

What an appropriate name for this wonderful agriturismo! Ideally situated in such a beautiful and culturally & historically significant part of Umbria. Beong only minutes from Orvieto (worth a visit to Italy in its own right), it is perfectly located for those who have just flown into Rome but wish to escape immediately to the peace and tranquility of the country after a relatively short and easy 90 minute drive north. Here you will relax and unwind straight away in this tranquil country retreat. The is agriturismo is outstanding - definitely one of the very best we have ever stayed in in Italy. The rooms are superb - large and spotless, amazingly furnished with original antique and rustic furniture and some of the rooms still have their original fireplaces. The common facilities are superb and include spacious, antique-filled guests lounge area and beautifully furnished dining room.
Francesca, our truly amazing host, is an absolute delight - attentive but unobtrusive, incredibly helpful, always willing to offer advice as well as a wonderful cook too! Nothing is too much trouble for her and when you reluctantly leave, it is as if you have been life-long friends. Afternoon tea including her wonderful biscuits and pastries miraculously appear each afternoon after a day touring and exploring the surrounding countryside which abounds in charming villages, like the incredible medieval hill village of Civita, a relatively undiscovered gem, situated only minutes away.
We were fortunate to be able enjoy Francesca's recommendation of a truly authentic, "locals only" restaurant in nearby Lubriano. At Il Vecchio Molino you are guaranteed a truly memorable regional dining experience - not just wonderful food, but incredible value.
There are plenty of other more famous Umbrian towns within an hour or so's drive of Settimo Cielo (Spello, Assisi, Spoleto, Todi, Perugia etc) but once you have experienced Francesca's hospitality, you will find it very difficult to stray too far each day, other than to spend a couple of hours in Orvieto or Civita. We cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: Every room is fantastic

I spent 3 nights here in September with my sister-in-law. The house is beautiful and comfortably furnished, but Francesca is the prize. Welcoming, helpful, and with wonderful jams and preserves for breakfast. Try the olive oil, too.

On Francesca's advice, we visited the nearby Civita di Bagnoreggio. Well worth the steep pedestrian bridge walk.

Also make reservations for Il Vecchio Mulino for dinner.
